About the Role
We are looking for an energetic, organized, and ambitious Purchasing Assistant to join our Supply Chain team.
This position is ideal for a recent college or university graduate who enjoys solving problems, working with data, communicating with suppliers, and learning how manufacturing businesses operate.
We are willing to train the right candidate. We are looking for someone with a strong technical mindset, excellent organizational skills, strong Excel abilities, and a desire to build a career in purchasing and supply chain management.
Responsibilities
- Support the Supply Chain team with daily administrative purchasing activities
- Create and update travellers, routings, purchase orders, work orders, and related documentation
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and supplier documentation
- Request quotations from suppliers and follow up on pricing, lead times, and order status
- Coordinate third-party services such as coating, machining, testing, inspections, and other outsourced processes
- Purchase shop supplies, consumables, tools, and other operational items
- Prepare reports, update spreadsheets, and maintain data in company systems
- Communicate with suppliers and internal departments to ensure information is accurate and up to date
- Assist with vendor setup and supplier record maintenance
- Learn to read and understand engineering drawings and manufacturing processes
- Support purchasers with administrative tasks, supplier communication, and follow-ups
- Provide backup support to other members of the Supply Chain team
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education
A certificate, diploma, or degree in one of the following areas is considered an asset:
- Supply Chain Management
- Business Administration
- Operations Management
- Engineering Technology
- Mechanical Engineering Technology
- Mathematics
- Statistics
- Computer Science
- Information Technology
- Data Analytics
Recent graduates and current students are encouraged to apply.
Candidates from other educational backgrounds are also welcome to apply if they have a strong technical mindset, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and a willingness to learn.
