Position Summary:
The Math Tutor will provide academic support in mathematics to Indigenous learners, helping them develop foundational math skills needed for success in their educational and career goals. The tutor will foster an inclusive learning environment that respects the individual cultural values of students while enhancing their understanding of mathematical concepts.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Education, or a related field.
- At least 1-2 years of tutoring or teaching experience, with a preference for experience working with Indigenous students.
- Experience in creating individualized learning strategies and tutoring plans.
- Robust knowledge of mathematical concepts and teaching methods.
- Ability to explain complex math concepts in a clear and accessible way.
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity when working with Indigenous learners.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Patience and the ability to build students' confidence in math.
- Ability to provide constructive feedback and support students in overcoming academic challenges.
Terms:
Appointment to this casual position will require a formal criminal record check, the details of which may preclude finalizing an offer of employment. Preference will be given to qualified Indigenous applicants.

Hours: Monday to Friday: 20 hours/week
Salary: $35.00/hour
