About the Position
Alberta Hardwood Flooring is looking for a Flooring Quality Control Inspector to join our team in Calgary.
This is a field-based position focused on quality control inspections of tile, carpet, LVP, and other hard surface flooring. Our projects are primarily multi-family high-rise apartment buildings, with some commercial projects, and are located throughout Calgary with a robust focus on downtown.
We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, thorough, organized, and comfortable working with people. You will be inspecting flooring installations, identifying deficiencies, documenting your findings, and communicating with installers, project managers, customers, and other trades.
This is also a forward-facing role. The successful candidate will represent Alberta Hardwood Flooring on jobsites and at trade meetings, so professionalism, communication skills, and good judgment are important.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform quality control inspections of tile, carpet, LVP, and other flooring installations
- Inspect work in progress and completed installations
- Identify workmanship, installation, layout, and quality deficiencies
- Document deficiencies with written reports and photographs
- Review drawings, specifications, layouts, and project documentation
- Communicate inspection findings clearly and professionally
- Follow up on deficiencies and repairs
- Attend project and trade meetings as required
- Report relevant information and meeting outcomes to your supervisor
- Work with installers, project managers,
builders, customers, and other trades to resolve quality concerns
- Identify potential problems before they become larger issues or warranty concerns
- Maintain accurate records using computer-based systems
- Represent Alberta Hardwood Flooring professionally at jobsites and meetings
Qualifications & Experience
We are looking for someone with flooring or construction industry experience. Your experience could come from a variety of backgrounds, including:
- Flooring installation
- Flooring sales
- Flooring estimating
- Project management
- Construction supervision
- Quality control
- Other related flooring or construction experience
The successful candidate will have:
- Excellent attention to detail
- A thorough and methodical approach to their work
- Strong communication and people skills
- The ability to communicate deficiencies professionally and constructively
- Good computer skills and the ability to learn new software
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- The ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
- Professional appearance and conduct
- A valid driver's licence and reliable transportation
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who naturally notices the details.
You should be comfortable walking onto a busy construction site, assessing the work,
recognizing when something isn't right, and communicating the issue in a professional and constructive way.
You don't need to come from a traditional inspection background. If you have strong flooring knowledge from installation, sales, estimating, project management, or another related area, and you have the attention to detail and people skills we're looking for, we encourage you to apply.
Work Environment
- Work throughout Calgary, with a strong focus on downtown projects
- Primarily multi-family high-rise apartment construction
- Some commercial projects
- Monday–Friday, typically 7:00 AM–4:00 PM
- Active construction site environment
- Regular interaction with installers, trades, builders, customers, and project managers
- PPE is required, including hard hat, steel-toe footwear, high-visibility vest, and other PPE as required
