Our Red Chris Mine, located in the heart of Northern British Columbia on the traditional territory of the Tahltan Nation. Your Impact

As the Lead Mechanical Engineer, Underground, you will play a key role in the delivery of one of Canada's most significant underground mining projects.



You will provide technical leadership across underground materials handling and infrastructure work packages, ensuring secure, practical, and high-quality engineering solutions are delivered from detailed design through procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.

As Part of Our Team, You Will

- Lead the technical execution of underground mechanical engineering work packages, including materials handling and mine infrastructure systems.
- Manage engineering consultants and service providers, ensuring quality deliverables, schedule adherence, and technical compliance.
- Review and approve design criteria, specifications, datasheets, calculations, drawings, vendor documentation, and tender packages.
- Support procurement activities through technical bid evaluations, vendor reviews, equipment selection, and contract support.
- Provide technical leadership for conveyors, feeders, chutes, crushers, pumps, piping, valves, tanks, and associated underground infrastructure systems.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces across engineering and project teams.
- Support construction and commissioning activities and mentor junior engineers.

Prerequisites for Your Success in This Role

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC (mandatory).
- 12+ years of experience in mining, underground mining, mineral processing, materials handling, or major capital projects.
- Experience in detailed design, procurement, construction,



and commissioning.
- Strong knowledge of underground materials handling systems.
- Experience managing EPCM/EPC consultants, contractors, and vendors.

Your Work Environment

- Based in Vancouver, Monday to Friday office environment.
- Regular collaboration with project teams and site travel as required.
- Expected transition to a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off site roster as the project moves into major construction phases.
- Opportunity to contribute to one of Canada's largest underground mining developments.

The expected salary range for this role is CA$148,900 - 198,500 . This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s pay history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about pay history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
