Materials and Inventory Coordinator

About Enning Blinds

Established in 2017, Enning Blinds is a Calgary-based custom window covering manufacturer and wholesaler. We build blinds and shades by hand at our shop on Aero Link NE and supply dealers, builders and installers across Alberta.

About this role

This is a hands-on stockroom job, not a desk job. You will run our stockroom, and most importantly you will pull and stage the materials for every work order before production starts, so our shop floor never has to go hunting for parts. If you like a job with a clear daily rhythm where being organized and accurate is the whole point, you will do well here.

What you will do

- Kitting, the core of the job: pull the materials for each work order the day before, scan them out, stage them in a labelled bin and deliver them to the workstation
- Check the next day's work orders against stock and give the production manager a daily shortage list
- Receiving: check incoming shipments against the PO, inspect for damage, scan in and put away in the correct location
- Customer pickups: have completed orders staged and verified before the customer arrives, plus occasional packing and shipping
- Cycle counting: about 30 minutes a day on a rotating schedule, so we no longer shut the shop down for a full count
- Keep item records, bin locations, labels and min/max reorder points accurate and up to date
- Keep the stockroom clean, organized and stocked with packaging supplies
- When the stockroom workload is light, assist with production support and finished goods packing

What we are looking for

- 2+ years in a warehouse, stockroom or production materials role; a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred
- Someone who is comfortable doing the same careful routine every day and takes pride in getting it exactly right
- Comfortable with a barcode scanner and basic Excel, and able to read a work order and match part numbers and dimensions
- Able to stand and walk for most of the shift and to lift up to 50 lb, including fabric rolls,

aluminum tubing and finished product
- Strong spoken and written English
- High school diploma or equivalent, valid driver's licence and reliable transportation
- A stable work history. We are looking for someone who wants to settle into this role, not use it as a stepping stone to an office position

Nice to have

- Experience with window coverings, millwork or another made-to-order manufacturing environment
- Experience setting up bin locations or min/max reorder points from scratch

Your first 90 days

- Month 1: learn receiving and customer pickups, and start building accurate records for our highest-volume items
- Month 2: pilot the kitting process on one product line
- Month 3: all work orders running through kitting, with you owning the stockroom

Schedule

Full time, in person, Monday to Friday, 8 hours a day. Pay is reviewed at the end of the three-month probation period.

How to apply

Apply through Indeed with your resume. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to our shop for a short practical exercise: pulling the materials for a real work order. We thank all applicants for their interest; only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
