Position Overview

Our Field Technician will work in an experienced team and exciting workplace supporting Siemens Light Rail Vehicles. Our vehicles connect cities across North America, and the Field Service group works closely with customers, Siemens Mobility departments worldwide, and Field Service teams on site.

The primary goal of the Field Service Technician is to collaborate with the Siemens team to engineer, build, test, and commission products that achieve high customer satisfaction and reliable performance. This role involves planning, preparing, instrumenting, and executing tests on rail vehicles,



as well as documenting results through detailed test reports.

The position is based in Calgary, Alberta, with testing campaigns conducted in the field, at dedicated test centers, and on customer alignments.

Responsibilities

- Develop expertise in commissioning Siemens Light Rail Vehicles
- Develop detailed technical testing plans to support routine commissioning activities
- Plan, prepare, instrument, and execute tests, including writing comprehensive test reports
- Identify and drive the procurement of equipment and tooling required for commissioning activities
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Scheduling, Project Management, and Quality teams to streamline commissioning processes
- Provide technical expertise and support to field service teams
- Mentor Field Service Technicians on commissioning and warranty best practices
- Communicate technical feedback and lessons learned to Engineering teams
- Perform hands-on work related to instrumentation, commissioning, and testing activities
- Contribute to improving product reliability and maintainability through field-based feedback

Required Knowledge, Skills, Education, and Experience

- Post-secondary education in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience with demonstrated success in similar responsibilities
- Experience commissioning complex products or systems
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor, develop, and motivate team members
- Excellent team-building and facilitation skills
- Ability to work across multiple systems and develop expertise beyond a primary engineering discipline
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
- Ability to quickly learn new software applications in a continuously evolving environment

Qualified applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada and must not require employer-sponsored work authorization now or in the future.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Education, and Experience

- Technical degree, Bachelor's degree, or Master's degree in Engineering
- Rail industry field service experience
- Rail vehicle commissioning experience
