The Opportunity
We are looking for a deadline-driven healthcare construction superintendent to oversee our construction project and to act as the link between various project parties in the healthcare industry. The healthcare construction superintendent will lead and manage the on-site construction team and oversee all work on site. The healthcare construction superintendent will be responsible for orderliness on-site and ensure compliance with safety regulations. In addition, the individual will need to understand and ensure all hoarding and CSA standards are followed and implemented when completing relevant projects. You will ensure quality standards are met, and all equipment and materials are available on-site at all times. You will liaise with inspection authorities regarding approvals.
Accountabilites:
Role accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
- Makes safety the highest priority at all times.
Possesses full understanding of company’s safety policies and procedures, along with OH&S; guidelines. Reviews site specific safety protocols with crew before starting work on any site – every visit.
- Coordinate scheduling of subcontractors, consultants, inspectors and vendors to complete each project on time.
- Ensure all hoarding and CSA standards are followed and implemented when completing relevant projects.
- Preparing expense reports outlining cost estimates for suppliers, material, labour and other related costs.
- Collaborating with Project Managers, clients and other management personnel when determining budgets and timelines.
- Monitor work and materials to ensure quality control standards are met at various stages of the project.
- Communicate with the project team and support each subcontractor to execute his job duties effectively and efficiently.
- Develops effective teams and serves as a role model for direct reports. Coaches/ counsels successfully to build effective leadership throughout the organization. Provide advice, guidance, mentorship and direction to subordinates with respect to their professional growth.
- Perform inspections or schedule inspectors to meet the varying safety and compliance regulations of each job location.
- Maintain a written daily log of visitors, job actions performed, materials expended, and problems resolved on the job site.
- Travel between multiple job sites and simultaneously manage work loads of individual projects.
- Identify and resolve problems and conflicts, organizing meetings and cooperating with team members in various roles as necessary.
- Set an example in keeping the job seat organized and clean, including meeting standards for waste disposal and environmental protection.
- Ready to learn from on-the-job training when necessary.
What You Bring
- Minimum 5+ years experience in the construction industry.
- Experience as a superintendent on healthcare projects.
- Proven track record of promoting and sustaining a positive safety culture.
- In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment, and OH&S; guidelines.
- Proficient with MS Office Word and Excel.
- Proficient with scheduling software, and CAE and CAD applications is an asset.
- Proficient with taking and uploading digital photographs.
- Ability to interpret and build according to drawings, specifications, and other documents.
- College Diploma or Degree is an asset with a concentration in Construction Management.
- Holds or working towards Journeyman ticket in a trade is an asset.
- Class 5 driver's license with clean Driver’s Abstract.
- Sound knowledge of construction and practical experience with tools.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Must be a self-motivated person with the ability to work at fast paced professional level.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Shop floor environment with extended standing and working with products.
- Working wearing personal protective equipment 100% of work time.
- Overtime may be required to meet construction deadlines.
- Lifting regularly up to 50 lbs without mechanical assistance.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $85,000.00-$115,000.00 per year
