Ice Skating Instructor

SkatingHour Corp. is looking for enthusiastic and reliable Ice Skating Instructors to join our coaching team. The instructor will be responsible for teaching learn-to-skate classes to children, teens, and adults at beginner through advanced recreational levels.

Responsibilities

- Teach ice skating skills according to participants' age, ability, and skating level.
- Demonstrate proper skating techniques, including balance, stopping, forward and backward skating, turns, crossovers, and other progressive skills.
- Observe participants and provide individual feedback and corrections.
- Maintain a safe, positive, organized, and encouraging learning environment.
- Assist with grouping participants according to their skating ability.
- Follow SkatingHour lesson plans, teaching methods, and class structure.
- Help set up and organize teaching equipment when required.
- Monitor participants throughout the session and follow all rink and safety procedures.
- Communicate professionally with the Head Coach, other instructors, parents, and participants.
- Arrive on time and be prepared before each scheduled class.
- Represent SkatingHour professionally during all programs.

Qualifications

- Strong ice skating ability and confidence on the ice.




- Previous experience teaching or coaching skating is preferred.
- Experience working with children is an asset.
- Ability to demonstrate skating skills clearly and safely.
- Friendly, patient, energetic, and comfortable working with different age groups.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Must be comfortable working in a rapid-paced group lesson environment.
- Figure skating, hockey, CanSkate, recreational skating, or similar coaching experience is an asset.

Certifications

The following are considered assets:

- First Aid and CPR certification.
- NCCP or other skating/coaching certifications.
- Previous CanSkate, figure skating, hockey, or learn-to-skate instructor training.

Schedule

Classes are primarily offered during weekday evenings and weekends. Programs operate at multiple ice rinks, and instructors may be offered shifts based on their location and availability.

What We Look For

We are looking for instructors who are passionate about skating and enjoy helping participants build their confidence on the ice. Coaches should be able to provide clear demonstrations, observe each skater's progress, and provide constructive one-on-one feedback while maintaining an enjoyable group-class environment.

Pay: $20.00-$50.00 per hour
