Saw Operator Position

The Saw Operator is responsible for safely operating and monitoring saw equipment to ensure aluminum products are cut accurately according to customer orders and production specifications.

This role requires strong attention to detail, mechanical ability, and a commitment to quality. The Saw Operator will verify cut lengths, inspect finished products, identify defects, and ensure all materials leaving the saw meet established quality and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

As a Saw Operator, your responsibilities will include:

- Operating and monitoring saw equipment to ensure safe and effective production
- Setting and adjusting saw controls to achieve accurate cut lengths according to work orders
- Monitoring machine performance and making necessary adjustments to maintain production and quality standards
- Understanding the relationship between cutting speed, equipment settings, and finished product quality
- Identifying different aluminum alloys and tempers and ensuring materials are properly separated and placed on designated racks
- Inspecting finished products to ensure they meet required dimensions, specifications, and quality standards
- Identifying product defects, including die lines, flatness issues, off-square products, and other quality concerns
- Using measuring tools and basic calculations to verify product dimensions and cut accuracy
- Accurately following work orders and production requirements
- Assisting with other production duties, including packing and material handling, when required
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Following all established company policies, procedures, and safety requirements
- Complying with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and all applicable workplace health and safety standards

Qualifications

Successful candidates should have:

- High school diploma or equivalent – required
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Machine Operator or in a similar equipment operating role
- Previous experience in heavy manufacturing considered an asset





Skills & Abilities

The ideal candidate will have:

- Strong English reading and writing skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
- Ability to perform accurate product inspections and identify defects
- Basic math skills for measuring, calculating dimensions, and verifying cut lengths
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities
- Ability to understand and follow work orders, production instructions, and specifications
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Ability to meet established production and quality targets
- Strong safety awareness and dependable work habits
- Previous experience with EPICS considered an asset

Working Conditions

- Manufacturing/plant environment
- 12-hour rotating continental shifts
- Exposure to heat and elevated noise levels
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs
- Extended periods of standing and performing hands-on production duties
- Overtime may be required based on production needs
- Required PPE must be worn while working in designated production areas
