On-Call Maintenance

Position Summary: As a On-Call Maintenance, you will be essential in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities through effective maintenance and repair tasks.

Casual position, and hours are not guaranteed. Scheduling is based on operational needs and may vary week to week

Rate: $23.40 as per the Collective Agreement

Key Responsibilities

- Perform routine repairs and minor maintenance on mechanical, plumbing, and building equipment.
- Conduct minor carpentry work and maintain exterior grounds as needed (excluding contracted services).
- Regularly inspect the premises from a maintenance and safety standpoint and report findings to the supervisor.
- Operate floor care machines and steam cleaning equipment; strip, scrub, spray buff, and refinish all carpet and non-carpet floor surfaces.
- Vacuum carpeted areas and remove spots and stains from carpets and upholstery.
- Remove and hang drapes as needed.
- Move furnishings and residents' personal belongings as required.
- Collect and transport garbage/recycling to designated areas.
- Adhere to facility policies and procedures, including safety rules and secure working practices.
- Prepare documentation as required according to facility policies.
- Review the maintenance request book multiple times per shift.
- Complete other assigned tasks as needed.

Qualifications

- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to work flexible hours and cover additional shifts during absences.




- Strong communication skills with residents and staff.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to perform physical duties, including lifting and moving heavy objects.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Respectful and professional in interactions with clients, families, and staff.
- Emotionally and mentally mature for maintaining positive work relationships.
- Experience with minor facility and equipment repairs.
- Knowledge and experience in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, heating, water, gas, mechanical systems, plastering, and painting.
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of chillers and boilers.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations.
