The Child Care Program Assistant supports the delivery of fun, safe, and engaging programs for children and youth. This role assists program facilitators, helps with daily activities, builds positive relationships with participants, and maintains a welcoming environment while following safety, confidentiality, and child care regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Assists with programming that is responsive to the needs of the participants while meeting requirements of the Early Learning and Child Care Act and Regulations where applicable.
- Assist Child Care Programs Facilitators in their day-to-day program delivery.
- Provide hands-on, interactive, friendly and fun interactions while building positive relationships with the participants within the program.
- Ensure programming is delivered in a clean, welcoming, and safe workplace.
- Actively participates in a team approach to planning, development, and implementation of daily activities.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned by the Child Care Programs Supervisor and/or the Community Services Manager.
- Adhere to the County’s Confidentiality Directive, including the appropriate use of information and maintaining the security of all acquired information relating to employees, businesses, and/or residents of Lac Ste. Anne County.




- Practice safely and comply with all Occupational Health and Safety legislation, as well as the County’s Occupational Health and Safety policies; comply with all safe work procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

- Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
- Level 1 Early Childhood Educator Certification considered an asset.
- Previous experience working with children and youth would be an asset.
- Current First Aid and CPR training would be considered an asset.
- Clean Vulnerable Sector Check or Criminal Record Check may be required.
- Good organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- High standard of professionalism.
- Must be friendly and approachable.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of enthusiasm, imagination, patience, and personal motivation.
- Teamwork skills are important.

Working Conditions

- Hours of work: Approximately 6 hours per week
- Work in a busy child care environment with up to 24 children.
- Requires patience and the ability to manage varying behaviours, emotions, noise levels, and active participant movement.
- Must maintain a safe, positive, and welcoming workplace for children and youth.
