Job Summary
We are currently seeking a hands-on Sheet Metal Shop Attendant / Designer to join a manufacturing facility in Mississauga.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who has both an interest in design and a willingness to work hands-on in a sheet metal manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will initially (3 months) spend the majority of their time working on the shop floor to learn the products, equipment and manufacturing processes. This will include working with presses, stamping equipment, press brakes and other sheet metal fabrication equipment.
As the individual develops a strong understanding of the manufacturing process, the position will gradually transition into more design-related responsibilities, including creating and modifying drawings, developing sheet metal components and preparing designs for production.
The role requires someone who understands that positive sheet metal design goes hand-in-hand with understanding how the product is actually manufactured
Requirements
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, fabrication or sheet metal environment is an asset.
- Hands-on experience with presses, stamping equipment and/or press brakes is strongly preferred.
- CAD/design experience using SolidWorks, or similar software.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings and fabrication drawings.
- Understanding of sheet metal design concepts, including bends, flat patterns and manufacturability.
- Comfortable working hands-on in the shop before transitioning into more design-focused responsibilities.
- Mechanically inclined with strong attention to detail.
- Ability and willingness to learn manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Must be able to accommodate mandatory overtime when required.
- Must be able to reliably commute to Mississauga.
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
Work Location: In person
