Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Transportation Manager to lead the day-to-day transportation operations for our Surrey location. In this hands-on Transportation leadership role, you will ensure products are delivered to BC customers and facilities safely, on time, and cost-effectively. You will oversee local dispatch, routing, driver supervision, local fleet readiness, regulatory compliance, and daily service performance. This role is focused on leading Surrey’s delivery operations, coaching the local team, and maintaining a strong safety and service culture.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Lead daily dispatch, routing, and scheduling for the Surrey delivery team; adjust routes based on volume, staffing, traffic, weather, and customer requirements.
- Supervise, coach, train, and support Surrey drivers, dispatchers, and transportation staff; manage performance, attendance, onboarding, and team engagement.




- Ensure local deliveries meet service and on-time requirements; act as the escalation point for daily delivery issues and work closely with local Sales and Customer Service.
- Oversee day-to-day transportation team readiness, including inspections, maintenance and repair scheduling, fuel, cleanliness, equipment, and local vendor/leasing coordination; recommend truck /equipment replacement or disposal needs to management.
- In coordination with the Sr. Operations and Fleet Manager, ensure compliance with federal and British Columbia transport regulations, including Hours of Service, National Safety Code, ELD mandates, weights, and dangerous goods; maintain accurate records and support audits/inspections.
- Coordinate accident/incident reporting, investigation, and follow-up with Safety; support insurance and claims processes as required.
- Champion a safety-first environment through driver training, routine equipment inspections, toolbox talks, and thorough incident investigation.
- Use TMS/telematics to monitor route execution, driver performance, compliance, and real-time delivery visibility.
- Monitor daily and weekly operational metrics such as on-time delivery, route completion, labour, fuel, maintenance, and cost per delivery/mile; report results and implement local improvements.
- Assist with Surrey transportation budget management, cost control, invoice review, and daily cost-saving initiatives.
- Follow all health and safety policies, maintain data integrity, and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Essential

- · Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.




- 5-7 years of progressive experience in transportation, logistics, or delivery operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Proven experience managing a local fleet in a high-volume local distribution/DSD environment.
- Demonstrated experience using or implementing transportation technology (TMS, telematics) and supporting process improvement.
- Strong understanding of federal and British Columbia transport regulations (e.g., Hours of Service, National Safety Code, ELD mandates, commercial vehicle safety).
- Experience with Direct-to-Store Delivery (DSD) and refrigerated/frozen goods distribution is highly preferred.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License, air brake endorsement, and a clean driver’s abstract. Class 1 License is an asset.
- Ability to travel locally within Surrey, the Lower Mainland, and Fraser Valley as required.

Desirable

- Professional certification (e.g., CPIM, CSCP, CTL) is an asset.
- Experience in cold chain logistics and refrigerated trucks.
