Residential Disability Support Worker - Full-time, part-time and casual positions available

Must be available weekends and evenings.

Must have experience working with individuals affected by mental health, addictions and complex behavioural support needs. Must be familiar with and be able to follow Behaviour Support Plans and have excellent communication skills both orally and written. Must be highly motivated and have experience with developmental disabilities. Must have proficient computer skills using Microsoft programs. Must feel confident completing behavioural data entry and nighttime monitoring of individuals in the home as required. Must follow a regular check in schedule with other homes in compliance with working alone safely policy.

We are seeking energetic individuals who:

- Have a strong background providing residential supports to adults diagnosed with a developmental disability and experiencing mental health concerns
- Effectively promote home living skills and personal development growth (problem solving, decision making etc.)
- Demonstrate active engagement with individuals to explore/connect with community and leisure activities
- Possess solid knowledge of behaviour support strategies





Daily activities and responsibilities will include:

- Working with individuals to explore their interests, develop their skills and enhance their learning
- Using consistency and positive approaches to support learning new skills and addressing behaviours
- Teaching independent living skills such as cooking, grocery shopping, budgeting, problem-solving, decision making and healthy relationships
- Assisting individuals to participate in activities, establish new connections, and gain inclusion

Employment requirements include:

- 3 Years of Related Post-Secondary Education
- 3 Years of Related Human Service Experience
- Excellent interpersonal/communication skills
- Ability to effectively problem solve situations in a calm manner
- First Aid Certificate
- Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check
- Reliable vehicle and Drivers Abstract as travel is required (mileage is reimbursed)
- Adequate vehicle insurance
