Our client is a global energy organization seeking an experienced contract Payroll Specialist to support a major payroll and workforce management transformation initiative. This role will initially focus on the implementation of Dayforce and a new time and attendance system. Following implementation, the successful candidate will move into a hands-on payroll processing role, supporting a growing workforce with increasingly complex payroll requirements.

Location: Vancouver, BC, fully in-office Contract: 6 month initial term
Pay rate: $33.00 - $40.00 per hour, depending on experience

Responsibilities:

- Support the implementation and configuration of Dayforce payroll, including payroll testing, validation, and system optimization.
- Assist with the selection, implementation, and integration of a new time and attendance system.
- Manage the migration of payroll and workforce data from to Dayforce.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure payroll and timekeeping systems are effectively integrated and functioning as intended.
- Participate in payroll parallel testing, user acceptance testing, and post-implementation support.
- Accurately onboard up to 100 new employees.
- Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and in compliance with applicable legislation and company policies.
- Administer payroll for salaried and hourly employees, including complex pay calculations and multiple earning components.
- Process shift premiums, overtime, statutory holiday pay, allowances, incentive pay, and other variable earnings.
- Maintain employee payroll records and ensure payroll data integrity within all systems.
- Reconcile payroll data and investigate payroll discrepancies.
- Prepare payroll reports and support internal audits and compliance requirements.
- Liaise closely with the Accounting team to prepare payroll-related reconciliations and journal entries.
- Support month-end and year-end payroll activities, including government remittances and reporting.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner.




- Assist with the development and documentation of payroll processes and best practices as new systems are implemented.

Requirements:

- Minimum 3-5 years of progressive payroll experience in a high-volume environment.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with Dayforce implementation and payroll processing.
- Experience transitioning organizations from legacy payroll systems, preferably ADP to Dayforce.
- Strong experience processing payroll for hourly employees with multiple pay components and varying shift structures.
- Experience with time and attendance systems and workforce management integrations.
- Solid understanding of payroll legislation, payroll compliance, and payroll best practices.
- Experience working with project-based, construction, industrial, manufacturing, energy, or similarly complex payroll environments is considered an asset.
- Union payroll experience, or experience with collective agreement-style pay rules, premiums, and complex earnings calculations, is strongly preferred
- Strong reconciliation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Meticulousness, strict attention to details, strict attention to confidentiality.
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with payroll reporting.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with Accounting, HR, and Operations teams.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced and evolving setting.
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation. A combination of payroll certification and relevant payroll experience may be considered.
- Post-secondary education in Payroll, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is an asset.
