At Canoe Club, we provide nutritious, high-quality and delicious meals to our residents. We specialize in senior dining, ensuring our residents receive comforting meals tailored to their dietary needs in a warm and welcoming environment. We are currently looking for a responsible, dependable, and independent Cook to join our kitchen team.

Job Summary:

As a cook, you will manage full-cycle meal preparation, cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner. This role is perfect for a self-motivated professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can work independently, and takes pride in food safety and high-quality presentation. You will also be responsible for essential prep work, managing freezer inventory (thawing/forecasting), and baking simple desserts and dinner rolls.

Key Responsibilities:

-Full-Cycle Cooking: Prepare and cook high-quality, nutritious breakfast, lunch and dinner menus according to facility recipes and guiidelines.

-Specialized Dining: Prepare meals tailored to elderly residents, including adjusting textures and addressing specific allergy requests or dietary restrictions safely.

- Kitchen Prep & Inventory: Perform daily food prep (e.g., washing and cutting vegetables) and forecast inventory needs by planning and pulling meats/items from the freezer to thaw safely.

- Baking: Bake daily fresh goods, including dinner rolls and simple desserts.

-Food Safety: Maintain exceptional cleanliness,



follow food safety handling procedures, and comply with health regulations.

- Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with other cooks and staff to ensure smooth meal service.

Qualifications & Requirements:

-Proven experience as a cook (experience in health care, long-term care, or senior living is a strong asset).

-Valid Food Safety / Safe Food Handling Certificate.

- Strong Knowledge of cross-contamination prevention and managing food allergies.

-Ability to work a flexible schedule, including rotation shifts for breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekends.

- Excellent time management skills with the ability to handle a fast-paced environment.

- Strong communication and teamwork skills, alongside the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

-A willing-to-learn attitude, high dependability, and strong work ethic.
