Job Summary:
Cyntech Tanks is looking for an experienced and motivated Lead Hand to support and lead field crews on above-ground storage tank repair projects throughout Alberta and Western Canada. This position is ideal for someone with strong leadership skills, a safety-first mindset, and hands-on experience in industrial construction, maintenance, or tank repair operations.

The Lead Hand plays a key role in coordinating field activities, mentoring crews, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Key ResponsibilitiesField Leadership & Project Coordination

- Lead and coordinate daily field operations on API 650 tank repair projects
- Support project execution by working closely with supervisors and project managers
- Assist with planning, scheduling, manpower coordination, and task assignments
- Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project requirements

Crew Supervision

- Supervise, mentor, and support field laborers and tradespeople
- Delegate work assignments based on crew strengths and project demands
- Monitor productivity and ensure crews meet project timelines

Safety & HSE

- Promote and enforce Cyntech’s safety culture and procedures
- Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and field-level hazard assessments
- Conduct inspections and ensure compliance with all site safety requirements
- Support emergency response preparedness and safe work practices

Quality Control

- Ensure work meets API 650 standards and client specifications
- Participate in inspections and address quality concerns in the field
- Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting

Client & Site Communication

- Act as a field contact for clients and site representatives




- Provide updates on project progress and field activities
- Maintain professional relationships and promote client satisfaction

Equipment & Resource Coordination

- Coordinate manpower, equipment, and materials on site
- Monitor equipment condition and support maintenance requirements
- Ensure proper use of tools, equipment, and resources

Reporting & Documentation

- Complete daily reports, safety documentation, and progress updates
- Utilize DATS (Digital Action Tracking System) for inspections, safety records, training verification, and equipment tracking
- Maintain organized project records and documentation

Qualifications

- Previous experience in industrial construction, tank maintenance, or oil & gas operations
- Leadership or Lead Hand experience preferred
- Strong understanding of safety procedures and industrial work practices
- Experience working around API 650 storage tanks considered an asset
- Ability to lead crews in fast-paced field environments
- Robust communication and organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license required

Safety Certification: (training can be provided, if required)

- H2S alive or awareness
- Confined space entry and monitor/or rescue
- Fall protection
- WHMIS 2015
- Class 5 drivers license
- CSA Steel toed boots required. All other PPE is provided.

Pay: $35.00-$50.00 per hour
