The Opportunity – CONTROLS SPECIALIST (INTERMEDIATE / SENIOR)
You will program, develop and troubleshoot PLC controlled automation systems reporting directly to the Manager - Controls, Electrical Design, Fluid Power and Robotics. Your level within the role will be determined by the skills and experience you bring when taking on this exciting career opportunity. Responsibilities are noted as you progress within the role.
Junior:
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in Programming PLC’s and HMI’s in an automation environment utilizing systems such as:
- Allen Bradley ControlLogix based programming software
- Allen Bradley HMI development software
- Siemens TIA Portal / Step 7 based PLC programming software
- Siemens Win CC Flexible based HMI development software
- Troubleshoot complex automation with assistance from senior level personnel.
- Coordinate with other disciplines to streamline delivery.
- Develop efficient means and standards to ensure budgets and schedules are met.
- Validate system safeties function as designed.
- Participate in interactions with customers and suppliers.
Job Qualifications:
- Engineering Degree or Engineering Technologist/Technician (BSc., P. Eng., or CET.).
- Basic knowledge of Safety PLC Systems and Safety Standards.
- Basic knowledge of communication networks (Ethernet IP, RIO I/O Link, Profinet, etc.).
- Some experience with robot integration and understanding of robot programming.
- Familiar with safety circuit design.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a constantly changing environment.
- Ability to coordinate a high level of activity under a variety of conditions and constraints.
- Ability to work overtime and travel globally.
- Effective working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent conflict resolutions skills.
- Excellent judgment and strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to understand the financial impact of relevant options.
- High energy and the flexibility to perform under short time constraints to meet deadlines.
- Positive attitude and works well as a member of a team.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, disciplined approach to work.
Growth Focus: Actively seeks mentorship and takes ownership of progressively more complex tasks to transition from assisting on projects to independently leading small projects. Work towards an Intermediate level position.
Intermediate:

- Engineering Degree or Engineering Technologist/Technician (BSc., P. Eng., or CET.).
- Minimum 3 years direct working experience.
- Working knowledge of Safety PLC Systems and Safety Standards.
- Working knowledge of communication networks (Ethernet IP, RIO I/O Link, Profinet, etc.).
- Direct experience with robot integration and understanding of robot programming.
- Direct experience with multiple process types (Assembly, MIG Welding, Spot Welding, etc.).
- Direct experience with safety circuit design.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a constantly changing environment.
- Ability to coordinate a high level of activity under a variety of conditions and constraints.
- Ability to motivate fellow team members in a positive manner.
- Ability to work overtime and travel globally.
- Effective working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Job Qualifications:

- Minimum 6 years direct working experience.

- Working knowledge of communication networks (Ethernet IP, RIO I/O Link, Profinet, etc.).

What we offer:
Competitive Annual Compensation: *$75,000.00 - $90,000.00 = $36.06 to $43.27/hr.
*The actual compensation a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
