Summary of Position:
The position shall perform a variety of tasks, which may include any combination of the following: mowing, trimming, weeding, watering, fence repairs, arena grooming, equipment maintenance, building maintenance, small construction jobs, movement and storage of various equipment. Also provide superlative service to members, passholders and commercial customers as well as training and assisting co-workers. It is imperative that the Grounds Staff use best business practices to improve efficiency, by reducing operating costs while increasing productivity.
The position involves operating hand tools, power tools, and various equipment.
This is an agricultural facility, so comfort around animals, especially horses, cattle and dogs, is a must.
Responsibilities
- Grooming of the riding arena(s).
- Upkeep of grounds which may include grading road ways, snow removal, mowing of grass areas and jumping courses, watering, weeding by hand or weed whacking as necessary.
- Responsible for cleaning and maintenance of all Park Facilities including: groundskeeping, snow plowing, facility maintenance and repair, and garbage cleanup.
- Keep all related equipment clean, maintained and stored properly.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and inform manager when additional supplies are needed including but not limited to fuel, shavings and water.
- Keep the entire property free of litter and other trash.
- Conduct routine “rounds” of the grounds enforcing all grounds rules and ensuring entire grounds and facilities are operational and safe for people and animals.
- Ensure that all safety, health and fire regulations are followed.
- Ability to work as part of a Team and the ability to lead, motivate and supervise others.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.
- Assist with event set-up and teardowns.
- Assist with various construction and building projects.
Qualifications
- Must be able to communicate clearly with other staff, customers and Board members.
- Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
- Operate and maintain tractor, skid steer, grooming equipment, lawnmower, weed whacker and side-by-side.
- Operate and maintain a variety of power and hand tools.
- Must be comfortable working around horses, cattle and dogs.
- Valid drivers license.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Prior experience in groundskeeping, maintenance, or similar roles is an asset.
Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20.0 – 30.0 per week
