The Comox Valley Healthcare Foundation is seeking a Director, Finance & Operations to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to an organization that helps bring exceptional healthcare closer to home by funding priority equipment, programs, education, research, and facility improvements throughout the Comox Valley.
Reporting directly to the Co-Executive Directors, the Director, Finance & Operations plays a key leadership role in ensuring the Foundation's financial integrity, operational effectiveness, governance support, and organizational sustainability. Working collaboratively with a small, high-performing team, this position ensures donor gifts are stewarded responsibly while supporting the Foundation's mission to enhance healthcare for people of all ages throughout our region. As a member of the leadership team, you will help guide the Foundation's financial stewardship and operational excellence during an exciting period of continued community investment in healthcare.

Core Responsibilities
Finance, Accounting & Financial Stewardship
- Lead all accounting, bookkeeping, and financial management activities for the Foundation.
- Maintain and oversee the Foundation's accounting systems, banking relationships, investment records,and cash flow management.
- Monitor financial performance and prepare regular financial reporting, forecasts, analyses, and recommendations for management and the Board of Directors.
- Develop annual operating budgets in collaboration with the Co-Executive Directors and support long-term financial planning.
- Coordinate annual audit preparation and serve as primary liaison with external auditors.
- Ensure compliance with all Canada Revenue Agency charitable reporting requirements, including T3010filings and charitable receipting standards.
- Complete GST reporting, payroll administration, T4 preparation, benefit administration, and statutory remittances.
- Maintain rigorous internal controls, financial policies, and risk management practices to safeguardorganizational assets.
- Manage financial tracking and reporting of restricted donations, designated funds, grants, endowments,and donor-directed healthcare initiatives.
- Provide financial analysis and reporting related to healthcare equipment purchases, capital projects,community healthcare programs, and special funding initiatives.
- Ensure data integrity and effective integration across financial, donor, payroll, and reporting systems.
- Process, reconcile, and report donations and charitable receipts accurately and in a timely manner.
Governance & Board Support
- Prepare financial reports, dashboards,
and supporting materials for Board and committee meetings.
- Attend Board meetings and Finance Committee meetings as requested.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
- Assist with onboarding and orientation of Board members relating to financial governance andcompliance responsibilities.
- Maintain governance records and support required organizational filings and corporate records.
- Support implementation and review of governance policies, financial policies, and organizationalpractices consistent with best practices for charitable organizations.
- Operations & Administration
- Oversee operational systems, policies, and procedures that promote efficiency, accountability, andcompliance.
- Ensure compliance with employment standards, privacy requirements, charitable regulations, and otherapplicable legislation.
- Support human resources administration, employee record management, benefits administration, andpolicy implementation.
- Coordinate external service providers, including auditors, legal counsel, IT consultants, HR specialists,and insurance providers.
- Develop and maintain operational policies and procedures that support organizational effectiveness and continuous improvement.
Strategic Leadership & Organizational Development
- Support implementation of the Foundation's strategic plan and organizational priorities.
- Assist in developing financial strategies that advance sustainable growth and maximize mission impact.
- Provide financial oversight and reporting for major fundraising initiatives, healthcare campaigns, grants,and donor-funded projects.
- Support business planning, policy development, and organizational evaluation initiatives.
- Participate in projects that strengthen organizational capacity, operational excellence, and long-termsustainability.
- Support organizational storytelling by helping quantify and communicate the impact of donorinvestments in local healthcare.
Qualifications Required
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field.
- Minimum five years of progressive experience in financial management, accounting, or operationsleadership.
- Advanced proficiency with accounting software, payroll systems, and Microsoft Office, particularlyExcel.
- Demonstrated experience preparing budgets, financial statements, audits, and regulatory filings.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team environment.
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License.
- Ability to successfully complete a Criminal Record Check.
Preferred
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
- Experience working within the charitable, nonprofit, healthcare, or public sectors.
- Experience supporting Boards of Directors, governance processes, and committee reporting.
- Knowledge of charitable accounting, donor-restricted funds, and CRA charitable compliancerequirements.
- Knowledge of Financial Edge and Raiser’s Edge is an asset.

Working in partnership with generous donors, healthcare professionals, community organizations, and healthcare leadership, the Foundation raises funds to enhance quality healthcare throughout the Comox Valley.
Through community support, the Foundation helps fund priority medical equipment, healthcare programs, staff education, research initiatives, facility enhancements, and patient comfort resources in hospital, community-based, and long-term care settings. The Foundation's goal is to ensure residents have access to exceptional healthcare close to home.

Pay: $41.20-$47.48 per hour
