Vū Café | Studio — Trinity Bellwoods / Dundas West

Vu Cafe Studio is a neighbourhood cafe, bar and creative space in Toronto’s Trinity Bellwoods community. During the day, we offer specialty coffee and thoughtfully prepared food. In the evening, the space transitions into a relaxed bar experience featuring wine, cocktails, small plates and creative events.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced and personable bartender who is equally comfortable preparing drinks, handling food and supporting the overall guest experience.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who understands that great bar service includes more than making drinks. You will assist with preparing and presenting small plates, maintaining service standards, keeping the bar and food areas organized, and helping the team create a polished evening atmosphere.

Responsibilities

- Prepare and serve wine, beer, cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks accurately and consistently.
- Provide informed recommendations and confidently explain the evening menu.
- Prepare, plate and serve light food items, small plates, flatbreads and sharing boards according to Vū’s recipes and presentation standards.
- Follow all food-safety, sanitation and allergen-handling procedures.
- Complete the café-to-bar transition, including changing menus, arranging the bar, displaying wine bottles and adjusting the space for evening service.
- Monitor guest needs and provide attentive, warm and professional service.
- Process orders and payments accurately through the POS system.
- Maintain a clean, organized and fully stocked bar and food-preparation area.
- Monitor alcohol consumption and follow responsible-service requirements.
- Assist with opening, closing, restocking,



cleaning and inventory counts.
- Support private events, wine tastings, workshops and other programmed evenings.
- Work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house team members.
- Follow established recipes, portioning standards and waste-control procedures.

Required Experience and Qualifications

- Previous bartending experience in a bar, restaurant, café or hospitality environment.
- Practical food-service experience, including food preparation, plating or handling small plates.
- Valid Smart Serve certification.
- Good understanding of responsible alcohol service.
- Knowledge of basic cocktails, wine service and drink preparation.
- Understanding of food safety, cross-contamination and allergen awareness.
- Ability to work efficiently during busy service periods while maintaining presentation and cleanliness.
- Strong communication skills and a friendly, guest-focused approach.
- Reliable, punctual and comfortable taking ownership of assigned duties.
- Available to work evenings, weekends and events.

Preferred Qualifications

- Valid Food Handler Certificate.
- Experience with wine, cocktail batching or food-and-drink pairings.
- Experience working in a café-bar or venue that transitions between daytime and evening service.
- Experience with private events, tastings or small hospitality activations.

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
