Didsbury is a town of approximately 5,000 located 80
kilometres north of Calgary, approximately half-way
between Calgary and Red Deer and an hour’s drive to the
Rockies. Didsbury offers small community living with big city
amenities just a short drive away.
Didsbury is a family-focused community with four schools, a
hospital, public library, and robust recreational facilities,
including a two-surface arena, five-lane swimming pool,
four-sheet curling rink, ball diamonds, skate park and
numerous playgrounds and pathways. The top industries in
the community include agriculture, construction, real estate,
professional services, and transportation.
Reporting to the Manager of Public Works, this position will be
responsible for performing a variety of repairs, installation and
maintenance activities in support of water and wastewater
systems and performing related duties as assigned. Other
duties may include the maintenance and repair of water mains,
pumps, motors, main line valves, installation and testing of
water meters and monitoring of storage tanks; maintenance
and repair of sewer lines, pumps, lagoons and related
operating facilities.
The Utility Operator will also assist with other Public
Works-related functions such as street and walkways
maintenance and repair, parks maintenance, buildings and
grounds maintenance, snow removal,
traffic control signage,
and cleaning roadside ditches, culverts, and catch basins.
Hours: 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday with rotational stand-
by requirements that include evening, weekend and holidays.
