Position Overview The Architectural Drafter will prepare and coordinate architectural drawings and design documentation for industrial and commercial construction projects. The successful candidate will work closely with architects, engineers, project managers, estimators, consultants, suppliers, and field personnel throughout all phases of a project, from conceptual design and permitting through construction and closeout.

Job Duties

- Develop architectural drawings for industrial and commercial construction projects.
- Prepare floor plans, elevations, building sections, wall sections, details, reflected ceiling plans, door and window schedules, and finish schedules.
- Assist with conceptual layouts, design development, construction drawings, and permit packages.
- Produce and maintain accurate 2D drawings and 3D building models using AutoCAD, AutoPLANT, Revit, or comparable design software.
- Coordinate architectural drawings with structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, civil, and process-design disciplines.
- Review consultant, supplier, and vendor drawings and incorporate relevant information into coordinated project documents.




- Assist with the design and layout of offices, warehouses, industrial shops, laboratories, equipment buildings, and supporting facilities.
- Support the preparation of development-permit, building-permit, tender, and construction packages.
- Review drawings for accuracy, constructability, code compliance, and consistency with client requirements.
- Conduct site visits, field measurements, and existing-condition reviews as required.
- Prepare record drawings and incorporate field changes into final as-built documentation.
- Respond to drawing markups, RFIs, design changes, and construction-related drafting requirements.
- Maintain drawing files, revision records, and project documentation in accordance with company standards.
- Support project teams in meeting schedule, budget, quality, and safety requirements.

Qualifications

- Diploma in Architectural Technology, Engineering Design and Drafting Technology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of five years of architectural drafting or design experience.
- Experience supporting industrial, commercial, or design-build construction projects.
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD.
- AutoPLANT experience is considered ideal; relevant Revit experience is also acceptable.
- Experience preparing coordinated construction drawings and permit packages.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, civil, and process drawings.
- Working knowledge of building construction methods, materials, assemblies, and detailing.




- Familiarity with applicable Alberta building codes, municipal requirements, and industry standards.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to drawing accuracy and quality.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced project environment.
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with pre-engineered buildings, industrial shops, warehouses, offices, or laboratory facilities.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary industrial-facility designs.
- Familiarity with building-code reviews, development permits, and building-permit submissions.
- Experience with renovations, additions, brownfield projects, and existing-condition documentation.
- Knowledge of construction administration, field coordination, and as-built documentation.
- Experience working directly with project managers, engineers, consultants, and construction personnel.
