Assistant Teacher – Part time

Building Blocks Nursery School | Midhurst, Ontario

Building Blocks Nursery School is looking for a warm, positive and energetic Assistant

Teacher to join our community-focused nursery school in Midhurst, just minutes outside of Barrie.

This is a unique part-time opportunity for someone who genuinely enjoys helping young children, learn, play, build friendships and develop confidence and independence.

RECE is preferred, but not required. We'd also love to hear from candidates who have meaningful experience working with children and would thrive in a nurturing, collaborative nursery-school environment.

Building Blocks is a licensed, non-profit cooperative nursery school where children learn through play in a warm and welcoming environment.

Our educators, parent volunteers and Board of Directors work together to create a positive and engaging first-school experience for our children and a strong sense of community for ourfamilies.

More than anything, we're looking for someone who is caring, patient, positive and genuinely enjoys working with young children.

What You'll Do

Working alongside our teaching team and parent volunteers,



you'll help create a safe,

engaging and welcoming environment for our children. You'll:

 Engage with children through meaningful play and activities

 Help children build confidence, independence and a sense of belonging

 Support circle time, indoor activities and outdoor play

 Share observations and collaborate with the teaching team

 Help maintain required teacher-to-child ratios when needed

 Assist children with daily routines, including getting ready for outdoor activities

 Contribute ideas for activities and programming

 Help maintain a healthy, safe and inclusive nursery-school environment

What We're Looking For

 RECE designation preferred, but not required

 Experience working with children

 A caring, patient and positive approach

 Strong interpersonal and communication skills

 A collaborative, team-oriented attitude

 Ability to follow established policies, procedures and guidelines

 Ability to meet the physical requirements of working with young children The successful candidate will also require:

 Current First Aid certification, including child CPR

 Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check

 Current health assessment and up-to-date immunization record

Hours

Approximately 18–22 hours per week.

Nursery school operates Monday–Thursday, 8:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m.
