Job Overview
Reporting to the Supervisor of Facility Operations, the Part-Time Arena Attendant/Arena Support Staff assists with the day-to-day operation of the Kentville Centennial Arena. This position provides support during busy periods, special events, tournaments, and staff absences. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, working with the public, and takes pride in maintaining facilities.
Weekly support shifts for this position are expected through peak arena season mid-October to mid-March. During peak season, the Kentville Centennial Arena operates 7 days per week, from 8:30am – 12:30am Monday through Friday, and from 6:30am – 12:30am Saturday and Sunday.
Arena work consists of 6, 7, 8, & 10-hour shifts, covering either the morning/afternoon or evening/night portions of the hours of operation.
Duties The successful candidate will:
- Assist with ice resurfacing and ice maintenance.
- Perform cleaning and custodial duties.
- Assist with snow removal and general facility upkeep.
- Support arena operations during tournaments and special events.
- Operate small equipment and maintenance tools.
- Fill in for arena staff during absences as required.
- Provide excellent customer service to arena users and visitors.
- Help maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
- Follow workplace safety procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications The successful candidate must possess:
- High School Diploma or Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC).
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
- Valid WHMIS Certificate or willingness to obtain.
- Valid First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain.
- Experience providing customer service in a public-facing workplace.
- Experience in facility operations, maintenance, custodial work, or small equipment operation.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work with and around the public in a busy environment.
Requirements The successful candidate must:
- Be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Willing to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Be available for on-call shifts.
- Able to perform physically demanding work, including snow removal.
- Willing to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Complete a satisfactory Criminal Record Check (CRC).

Pay: $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 8.0 per week
