Kleos is seeking in person, one-to-one support for multiple students with various inclusive education needs in Vancouver, BC. The contracted Behaviour Interventionist would be working from the students home and in the community in collaboration with the students’ School Based Team.

The Behaviour Interventionist (BI) must be comfortable supporting students who may have inclusive education designations such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), various learning disabilities, global developmental delay, etc.

This position is contracted work between 8-10 hours per week, within the school calendar year. This position includes in-person and virtual support services. Hours may be increased if the BI would like to work with additional students. BI’s schedules are determined by themselves and the guardians of the students they work with. The only stipulation being that they can not work on a non-school day (weekends, statutory holidays, school breaks).

Preference will be given to those with experience/training in working with students with inclusive education needs and supporting behaviour management. The BI must feel comfortable taking the student into the community for various activities,



correctly demonstrating and teaching essential life skills, and assisting with emotional and behavioural regulation.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement individualized behavioural plans based on each student’s strengths and stretches.
- Respond calmly and safely to challenging behaviours using positive reinforcement strategies and neuro-affirming approaches to encourage secure behaviours and emotional regulation and development.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with students and their families.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
- Support students in improving communication, emotional regulation, social interaction, and life skills.
- Observe, document, and monitor behaviours, progress, and outcomes.
- Support children during transitions, routines, and challenging situations using de-escalation techniques.

Qualifications:

- Previous behavioural intervention/management experience required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Obtain a clear criminal record check.
- Report to the school at least monthly regarding student progress and observations.
- Respond to emails in a timely manner.
- Reliable transportation.

Hours and Salary:

- Independent contracted work for 8-10 hours per week during the school calendar year.
- $35 - $40 per hour depending on experience and education.
