Role Description The Benefits Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Calgary, AB, supporting clients and members with supplemental insurance benefit programs. This role involves meeting with individuals and families to explain coverage options, answer questions about benefits, and assist with policy enrollment and changes.
The Benefits
Specialist will process and administer benefit claims, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with applicable policies and regulations. Daily responsibilities include providing responsive customer service, conducting follow-up consultations, coordinating with internal teams to resolve issues,
and participating in training and team meetings to stay current on products and procedures. The role requires a professional, service-oriented approach and a commitment to supporting the needs of working families.
Qualifications
- Advantages Administration skills, including handling enrollments, updates, and claims in an organized and compliant manner.
- Knowledge of Insurance products and concepts, with the ability to explain coverage and options clearly to clients.
- Strong Communication skills, both verbal and written, for presenting benefit information and interacting with diverse clients.
- Customer Service abilities, including active listening, empathy, and problem-solving in a client-facing environment.
- Understanding of regulatory frameworks such as U.S. Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) or similar leave and benefits policies is an asset.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion when handling confidential information.
- Comfort working in an on-site environment with regular client appointments and team collaboration.
- Relevant post-secondary education or equivalent experience in insurance, human resources, or a related field is preferred.
- Proficiency with basic office software and digital tools used for benefits administration and record keeping.
