One Body of Soul BJJ (OBOS) is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Instructor to lead our children’s BJJ program for students ages 6–10.
We are looking for someone who is technically knowledgeable, dependable, patient, and genuinely enjoys teaching children.
This is a part time position consisting of 3 one hour classes per week at our Scarborough location.
Responsibilities
- Lead structured, engaging BJJ classes for children ages 6–10
- Teach age-appropriate Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques, fundamentals, movement and positioning
- Create a positive, disciplined and encouraging learning environment
- Prioritize student safety and proper technique
- Manage a group of young students while keeping classes organized and engaging
- Help students develop confidence, discipline, respect and sportsmanship
- Communicate professionally with parents and the OBOS management team
- Arrive prepared and on time for all scheduled classes
- Assist with occasional trial classes or program events when arranged in advance
Experience
- Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training and demonstrated technical experience
- Previous BJJ, martial arts, coaching or teaching experience strongly preferred
- Experience working with children is highly preferred
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Patient, energetic and comfortable managing children ages 6–10
- Reliable and professional
- Able to commit consistently to 3 scheduled hours per week
- Must be able to provide or obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check for working with children
- First Aid/CPR certification is an asset
Compensation Competitive hourly compensation based on BJJ rank, coaching experience and experience working with children.
This position may have the opportunity to grow as the OBOS kids program expands.
