Position: Brighter Futures Coordinator
Location: Ojibway Nation of Saugeen, Savant Lake, Ontario
Reports To: Health & Social Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Position Summary The Ojibway Nation of Saugeen is seeking a compassionate, organized, and community-
minded individual to join our Health & Social Services team as the Brighter Futures
Coordinator.
Reporting to the Health & Social Manager, the successful candidate will plan,
coordinate, implement and evaluate culturally relevant programs that promote the health,
wellness and development of children, youth, individuals and families. Working collaboratively with community members, Elders, leadership, schools, service providers and internal staff, the Coordinator will strengthen community wellness through prevention, education, cultural connection, healthy lifestyles and family support.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and deliver Brighter Futures programs and services.
- Develop culturally relevant workshops, activities, wellness events and community
gatherings.
- Support mental wellness, child development, parenting, healthy lifestyles and youth
engagement.
- Promote Ojibway culture, language, teachings and traditional knowledge throughout
programming.
- Build positive relationships with children, youth, families, Elders and community
partners.
- Provide information, referrals, advocacy and family support.
- Work collaboratively with schools, health providers and community organizations.
- Maintain confidential client files, program records and statistical reports.
- Assist with work plans, budgets, funding reports and program evaluations.
- Participate as a cooperative member of the Health & Social Services team.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Community
Development, Indigenous Studies, Human Services, Health Promotion or a related field.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Minimum two (2) years of related experience.
- Experience working with First Nation communities and Indigenous programs is an
asset.
- Knowledge of community wellness, prevention, family support and health promotion.
- Understanding of trauma-informed, strengths-based and culturally safe practices.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Strong computer, report writing and record management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
Employment Requirements
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver's Licence and reliable transportation.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Compensation Salary will be based on qualifications and experience in accordance with the Ojibway
Nation of Saugeen Salary Grid.
