About the Role:
We are looking for a skilled, dependable Carpenter to join our onsite construction team on commercial and multi-family projects, including hotels, apartment buildings and miscellaneous commercial construction and renovation projects based mainly in Red Deer and area projects but could be requested to assist in other projects throughout Western Canada. In addition to performing rough and finish carpentry, you will work closely with subcontractors and assist the Site Superintendent with day-to-day construction coordination. This role requires quality workmanship, clear communication, and a proactive approach to maintaining a safe, organized, and productive jobsite.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret architectural drawings, details, and installation instructions.
- Check work for correct dimensions, alignment, fit, and finish.
- Complete deficiencies, repairs, and final adjustments before inspections and project handover.
- Work closely with subcontractors onsite to coordinate activities, resolve routine issues, and support project schedules.
- Assist the Site Superintendent with overall construction coordination, including work sequencing, site access, material deliveries, and readiness for upcoming trades.
- Communicate progress, deficiencies, scheduling conflicts, and site concerns to the Site Superintendent.
- Support the Site Superintendent in ensuring all subcontractors follow applicable Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S;) requirements and site-specific safety standards. Identify and promptly report hazards or unsafe practices, and assist with corrective follow-up as directed.
- Participate in site safety meetings and communicate safety expectations to workers and subcontractors.
- Use and maintain hand tools, power tools, and site equipment safely.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and accessible.
- Identify material needs and report shortages or issues that could affect quality or scheduling.
Qualifications and Experience
- Previous carpentry experience on commercial or multi-family construction projects.
- Experience with hotel or apartment building construction is an asset.
- Ability to read construction drawings and take accurate measurements.
- Proficiency with common carpentry tools and installation methods.
- Experience working alongside subcontractors and coordinating activities on an active construction site.
- Working knowledge of applicable OH&S; requirements and construction site safety practices.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently, take direction, and contribute to a site crew.
- Reliable attendance, punctuality, and transportation to assigned jobsites.
- Valid First Aid certification is an asset.
- Relevant safety training for assigned duties, such as fall protection or elevated work platform training, is an asset.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed onsite at active construction projects, both indoors and outdoors.
- Duties involve standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and handling construction materials.
- Work may involve ladders, scaffolding, and elevated platforms with appropriate training and safety controls.
- Early starts, overtime, or occasional weekend work may be required to meet project schedules.
- Travel between local jobsites may be required.

Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
