Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Childcare Cook to join our team in providing nutritious and appealing meals for children in our care at our new centre opening December 2026. This role involved preparing, serving and handling food in a safe and hygienic manner, ensuring that all meals meet health standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in food preparation and food service, with a passion for creating healthy meals for children and knowledge on meal accommodations due to allergies and/or other circumstances.

Responsibilities

- Prepare and cook nutritious meals and snacks tailored to children's dietary needs
- Handle food ingredients safely, following proper storage and handling procedures
- Maintain a clean,



sanitary and organized kitchen that meets or exceeds all requirements from the Health Department and Mettaheart Child Care standards
- Follow all safety protocols related to food handling and sanitation to prevent contamination or accidents

Qualifications

- High School Diploma
- Secure Food Handling Certification
- Knowledge and familiarity of cooking for large groups and accommodating allergies/restrictions
- First Aid/CPR Level C
- Familiar with the Child Care and Early Years Act, Canada's Food Guide and Health Sanitary Regulations
- Vulnerable Sector Check

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour Expected hours: 30.0 – 35.0 per week
