About us

Tacoma Woodworks manufactures commercial millwork out of a 6,000 sq ft shop in Aurora. Car dealership showrooms, medical offices, schools, plus some high-end residential work. We're growing, and we're small enough that what you build is visible — nothing disappears into a department.

The role

We're hiring a CNC Programmer / Operator to take full ownership of programming and cutting.

About 70% of your week is programming in Mozaik — standard casework, panels, closets, dealership showroom millwork — straight from approved shop drawings. The other 30% is on the machine, running what you programmed.

You'd own the Mozaik library, the nesting and sheet yield, and the tooling and maintenance schedule. You won't be supervising anyone. You'll be the technical authority on the floor.

Right now the owner does most of the programming. That's the bottleneck this role exists to remove. Come in, own it, and the shop stops waiting.

What we need from you

- 3+ years programming and running nested-base cabinet CNC in a production shop. Any software.
- You read architectural shop drawings cold, without hand-holding.
- You know how a cabinet actually goes together — joinery, edgebanding, hardware, panel processing.
- You can set up, dial in and troubleshoot the router without calling a service tech every time.
- You check your own work. In this seat a mistake is a full sheet of scrap and a late install.
- Reliable transportation to Aurora.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.

Mozaik experience is great, but it's not required. If you're strong in Cabinet Vision, Microvellum, Alphacam or something similar, you'll be productive in Mozaik in three or four weeks — and we'll pay for the training.

What you get

- $32.00 – $38.00 per hour, based on what you can actually do
- Health benefits after three months
- Two weeks vacation, 4% vacation pay on every cheque
- All nine Ontario stat holidays paid
- 44 hours a week: Monday to Thursday 7:00 to 4:30, Friday 7:00 to 3:30
- Saturdays are rare here, and paid at time and a half when they happen
- All tooling and equipment supplied
- Your own programming workstation and Mozaik licence
- A path to technical lead as we add machine capacity

How we work Four things we actually hold people to:

Say It Early. Problems get raised the day you see them, not when they blow up.

Own It. You own your work and your mistakes. You flag it, you fix it, and you make sure it doesn't happen twice.

Do What You Said. If you commit to a date, it happens — or you tell us before the deadline, not after.

Respect the Margin. Material and time are money. Waste is a decision, not an accident.

If that's already how you work, you'll like it here.

Our hiring process A short phone call, then an interview with the owner and shop foreman. If that goes well, we do a paid half-day working interview — you program a real job, nest it, and walk us through your tooling and material choices. We pay $300 for that day.

We'd rather see you work for four hours than talk for three interviews.

How to apply

Send your resume and a short cover letter. In the cover letter, tell us two things: what machines and software you've run, and one job you programmed that you're proud of — and why.

Applications close Oct 2. Start date is flexible.

Pay: $32.00-$38.00 per hour

Expected hours: 44.0 per week

Perks

- Extended health care
- On-site parking
