Sunco Drywall Ltd. is looking for a Commercial Drywall Estimator to join our Kelowna team.
Sunco is an established commercial drywall contractor working on projects throughout Western Canada. We are looking for an estimator who understands construction, is comfortable working with drawings and specifications, and can accurately prepare competitive bids for commercial projects.
The Role The successful candidate will be responsible for estimating commercial drywall and related scopes from tender through bid submission.
Responsibilities include
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documents
- Completing accurate quantity takeoffs
- Preparing labour and material estimates
- Soliciting and reviewing supplier and subcontractor pricing
- Identifying scope requirements, exclusions and potential risks
- Preparing competitive tender submissions
- Reviewing addenda and incorporating changes into estimates
- Working with our operations team during project handoff
- Developing and maintaining relationships with general contractors, suppliers and other industry partners
- Assisting with pricing changes and additional work when required
What We're Looking For
- Experience in construction estimating
- Commercial drywall estimating experience is strongly preferred
- Good understanding of drywall systems,
steel stud framing, insulation, ceilings and related scopes
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong computer and estimating software skills
- Organized, accurate and able to manage multiple tenders and deadlines
- Good communication skills and a practical approach to problem solving
- Ability to work independently while being part of a larger estimating and operations team
We are open to candidates with different levels of experience. An experienced drywall estimator would be ideal, but we would also consider someone with strong commercial construction knowledge who is interested in developing further as an estimator.
