JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Partnerships & Community Engagement, the Community Engagement and Events Officer is a front-line fundraiser and event professional responsible for the day-to-day management and growth of community engagement and third-party fundraising initiatives and the operational delivery of signature events, including Taste for Hope. The Officer builds and stewards community relationships, manages assigned initiatives from planning through evaluation, and is accountable for assigned revenue and engagement targets. Working with a high degree of independence within approved strategies, budgets and policies, the Officer coordinates event logistics, consultants, vendors, volunteers and internal stakeholders to ensure exceptional supporter experiences and successful execution.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Community Engagement & Third-Party Fundraising

- Manage a portfolio of community-led fundraising initiatives, third-party events, school programs, service clubs, community groups, local businesses and other supporters, with accountability for assigned revenue, retention and engagement goals.
- Build, cultivate and steward community relationships from initial inquiry through fundraising, event execution, recognition and renewal, while proactively identifying new opportunities for engagement and portfolio growth.
- Develop plans, budgets, timelines and fundraising approaches for assigned community initiatives and independently manage delivery within approved parameters.
- Identify opportunities for deeper engagement across fundraising portfolios and work proactively with Foundation colleagues to ensure relationships are cultivated and stewarded through the most appropriate channel.
- Develop and maintain turnkey fundraising resources and tools that enable community fundraisers to successfully support Shepherds of Good Hope.
- Represent the Foundation at community events,



cheque presentations, school and group presentations, networking opportunities and other external engagements.

Signature Events & Taste for Hope

- Under the strategic direction of the Manager, coordinate the detailed planning and execution of Taste for Hope and other assigned Foundation events, translating approved strategy into comprehensive critical paths, timelines, production schedules, site plans, run-of-show documents and logistical plans.
- Coordinate venue, production, entertainment, auction, guest experience, volunteers, registration, signage, décor, accessibility and other event logistics to ensure all elements are delivered on time and to standard.
- Coordinate the day-to-day work of event consultants, vendors, suppliers, volunteers and internal stakeholders, managing deliverables, information flow, site requirements and operational issues, and escalating contractual, budgetary or strategic matters as appropriate.
- Coordinate approved sponsor benefits, recognition, event-day requirements and stewardship deliverables, ensuring commitments are fulfilled accurately and professionally.
- Monitor event timelines, revenues and expenses against approved plans and budgets; proactively identify risks, variances and operational issues, recommend solutions and provide regular updates to the Manager.
- Support post-event reconciliation and evaluation, including results, stakeholder feedback and recommendations to strengthen future fundraising, donor experience and event delivery.

Revenue Accountability & Portfolio Management

- Achieve or exceed assigned annual revenue goals and maintain an active pipeline of community fundraising opportunities, providing accurate forecasts and updates to the Manager.
- Monitor portfolio performance, participation, retention, revenue, expenses and return on investment, identifying opportunities to strengthen or grow fundraising initiatives.

Relationship Management, Administration & Collaboration

- Engage and coordinate volunteers, event committees, community fundraisers and external partners to support successful fundraising and event execution.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of relationships, interactions, revenue opportunities, actions and stewardship activities in Raiser’s Edge, Asana and other organizational systems.
- Prepare portfolio and event updates for the Manager,



including progress against revenue targets, timelines, risks and upcoming priorities.
- Work collaboratively across the organization to deliver donor-centered, mission-aligned experiences and uphold fundraising best practices, ethical standards and organizational policies.
- Perform additional duties as required.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

- Post-secondary education in fundraising, event management, communications, business, nonprofit management or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three to five years of progressive experience in fundraising, community engagement, event management, sponsorship, partnership development or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating complex events with multiple stakeholders, consultants, vendors, timelines and logistical requirements.
- Demonstrated experience achieving revenue targets, managing external relationships and tracking event or fundraising budgets, revenue and expenses.
- Strong project management, organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently manage multiple priorities, detailed work plans and competing deadlines.
- Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage donors, volunteers, community partners, consultants, vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Sound judgment and the ability to anticipate issues, make day-to-day decisions within established parameters and recognize when escalation is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and fundraising or customer relationship management systems; experience with Raiser’s Edge and Asana is preferred.
- A valid driver’s license is required;
- French language proficiency is considered an asset.
