Position Summary
Legends Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, is seeking a Concessions Supervisor in the Food and Beverage Department at the Meridian Centre. The ideal candidate will have a willingness to learn new skills and enjoys a team dynamic while working towards the success of the overall operation. With a primary focus on event business in Quick Service operations, food and beverage event execution, the suitable candidate will find success by performing the following duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervises Quick Service food and beverage operations including Concessions, Hawkers, Bars, and In Seat Service as per event needs.
- Supervises food and beverage employees in the preparation, production, service, storage and clean up of all food and beverage operation areas and services.
- Assists in the training of food and beverage employees engaged in the preparing and cooking of foods to ensure high quality, efficient and profitable food service.
- Understand all menus, product offerings, packaging, and pricing and ensures all food and beverage outlets have proper displays and merchandise.
- Directs storage, prep, service, and clean up of food and beverages to employees for events.
- Develops position charts for employees and assigns staff to workstations to meet business needs.
- Reconciles sales, tabulates receipts, and balances accounts from Point-of-Sale and electronic payment terminals.
- Facilitates event cash operations with department managers and finance department.
- Inventories supplies on hand at end of each shift or other designated period.
- Works within guidelines and established food and labor costs.
- Manages the scheduling process for staff of 100-150 members, based on event needs and demands.
- Involved in the coordination of interviews, recruiting, retention and training of new team members.
- Thoroughly and accurately uses applicable Purchasing Systems, Point-of-sale, and Timekeeping systems
- Ensure consistent compliance with the A.G.C.O. and company policies regarding alcohol management.
- Ensure consistent compliance with all OHSA laws and regulations and company health and safety policies, programs, and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities Under the direction of Food and Beverage Managers,
the Concessions Supervisor carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Legends Global's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education & Experience The ideal candidate would hold:
- Highschool Diploma (or equivalent) required
- Previous supervisory experience in a food and beverage workplace, and/or secondary education completed or ongoing in Hospitality or Culinary programs are considered assets.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to function in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently
- Ability to train workers in preparation of foods to ensure high quality, efficient and profitable food service.
- The hours are varied and can include early mornings, day, evening, and weekend shifts.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written.
- Exceptional customer service skills, guest orientated, and service minded
- Ability to make quick, perform basic arithmetic and logical decisions.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Smart Serve certified.
- Food Safety certified.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative, but not all-inclusive, of those that the Culinary Supervisor will encounter as they successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- There is not a set schedule for this department. Hours are casual and based on the number and type of events.
- The hours are varied and can include early mornings, day, evening, and weekends
- The employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time.
- The employee is required to walk, climb stairs, stand, lift and bend for periods of time.
- The employee is required to stoop, twist and reach when moving or handling products and/or equipment.
- The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- This work requires the use of cleaning chemicals that could cause physical injury if not handled and operated following safety practices and procedures.
- The employee is required to follow WHMIS practices and guidelines as well as provincial Health and Safety regulations at all times.

Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Specific physical demands for this job include close vision for review of information on a PC monitor, as well as hard copy output. In addition, regular use of hands for typing, reaching and handling products and equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is to wear a mask for the duration of their shift and is regularly required to stand, walk, and lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
Other Requirements
Due to the nature of our business the schedule of events can be sporadic/inconsistent, the idea candidate will need to be able to work flexible hours; primarily evenings, weekends and occasional holidays and there will be work required during normal business hours, so flexibility in their availability is required.
