Entry level | Training provided | Fully remote
Good editors are hard to find. Not people who can write, people who can take a decent draft and make it clean, clear, and correct, every single time.
At Upkeep Media, we help residential property management companies across North America grow through SEO, content marketing, video, and website optimization. Content is the engine, and the editor is the last set of eyes before anything reaches a client or their customers.
Your mission: Make every piece of content we publish cleaner, clearer, and better performing than it arrived.
What This Role Is, and Is Not
This is not a content mill churning volume over quality.
This is not a ghostwriting job. You edit and improve far more than you write from scratch.
This is not a dead end. Editors who master the craft here grow into senior content and account roles.
This is a precision role. You proofread, edit, format, and optimize blog posts, landing pages, and website copy, and you care whether every link points to the right place.
What You Will Own
- Editing. Proofread and edit blog posts, website content, and landing pages. Improve grammar, clarity, structure, and readability while keeping each client's voice.
- Quality control. Check accuracy, consistency, formatting, and presentation. You are the reason errors do not ship.
- Publishing. Format content in WordPress, Grav, and similar platforms and make updates on live websites.
- SEO basics. Apply on-page fundamentals like titles, headers, meta descriptions, and internal links. We provide the training; you provide the attention to detail.
- Organization. Keep content files orderly in Google Drive and our project management tools, and communicate clearly with the marketing team.
What Success Looks Like Within your first six months you will have:
- A clean editing record:
content shipping on schedule with errors caught before publish
- Comfortable command of our style guidelines and client voices
- Real on-page SEO skills applied on live sites, not just theory
- The trust of the team, because your name on a piece means it is done
What You Bring
- Robust English writing and editing skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Organization across multiple projects and deadlines
- The ability to learn quickly and follow established guidelines
- Genuine interest in SEO, content marketing, or digital marketing
- Reliability: independent, punctual, and clear in a remote team
- Modern editing and analysis tools in your workflow are a plus, as long as you still catch what they miss
No agency experience required. We train you in SEO and digital marketing.
The Reality Check
This role is not for someone who:
- Skims. The details are the job
- Wants to write essays instead of improving drafts
- Treats a checklist as optional
- Needs constant supervision to hit a deadline
What You Will Get
- Training. Structured onboarding plus real training in SEO and digital marketing.
- Growth. A supportive team, a growing company, and a genuine opportunity for increased responsibility and compensation.
- Compensation. C$18 to C$20 per hour to start.
- Flexible Work. 100 percent remote, 40 hours per week between 9 and 5 EST.
Ready to Pick Up the Pen? If you are still reading this, you are probably someone who:
- Catches the typo in a restaurant menu
- Finishes what they start, on time
- Likes clear checklists and actually follows them
- Wants to get genuinely good at a craft
The application code word is Red Pen. Include it in your answer to the first question below so we know you read this posting all the way through. If that sounds like you, we would love to meet you. Apply below with your resume and honest answers.
