At North Grenville Learning Centre, we are seeking for a cook to join our team at our CERR location. Preference for French/Bilingual speaking, however not mandatory for the role.

Duties

- Prepare and cook balanced, kid-friendly meals and snacks in accordance with nutritional guidelines, dietary restrictions, and Ministry of Education regulations.
- Serve food to children in a friendly, efficient manner, promoting positive mealtime experiences
- Handle all aspects of food safety, including proper storage, sanitation, and hygiene practices
- Meal planning, ingredient selection, and grocery shopping to ensure variety, nutritional value, and budget
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, dishes, utensils, and equipment to meet health regulations
- Participate cooperatively in Health Unit and Ministry of Education site visits
- Follow established food handling procedures during meal preparation and service
- Collaborate with supervisor and staff to ensure timely meal delivery that aligns with daily schedules

Experience

- Previous experience in food preparation or cooking for a large group within a child care, residence, restaurant, catering,



or food service environment
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling techniques
- Familiarity with meal planning and serving for groups of children or similar age groups
- Hands-on experience in a kitchen setting demonstrating attention to cleanliness and safety protocols
- Strong understanding of practices related to serving nutritious meals to children

Education

- Post Secondary Education in culinary arts, food nutrition, food service management or a related field is preferred
- Experience in a child related field preferred
- Valid Food Handlers Certification is required
