Subject Matter Expert – Data & Statistical Chart Analysis

Position: Subject Matter Expert – Data & Statistical Chart Analysis

Type: Contractor

Compensation: $25–$50/hour

Location: Remote

About the Prospect micro1 is engaging Subject Matter Experts in Data & Statistical Chart Analysis to contribute to a customer project focused on advancing next-generation AI systems. In this role, you will apply professional expertise in statistics, data science, and quantitative visualization to create rigorous benchmark tasks that test AI models beyond basic chart interpretation. No prior AI experience is required—your domain knowledge is what matters.

Responsibilities

- Interpret complex statistical and data science visualizations, including Sankey diagrams, heatmaps, calibration curves, residual plots, correlation matrices, and distribution plots.
- Apply advanced professional judgment and precise statistical terminology when analyzing visual data.
- Design clear, objective, multi-step analytical questions based on challenging visualizations.
- Develop tasks that require quantitative reasoning beyond surface-level chart reading.
- Provide precise answers with detailed, step-by-step explanations of calculations, statistical inferences, and modeling logic.
- Accurately reference units, scales, axes, legends, annotations, confidence intervals, and other statistical features.
- Create tasks involving graphical reasoning, trend analysis, comparisons, interpolation, and statistical inference.
- Ensure all questions and solutions are objectively verifiable and free from ambiguity or subjective interpretation.




- Collaborate remotely with project stakeholders through written and verbal communication.
- Incorporate reviewer feedback while maintaining consistency and high standards across benchmark tasks.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field.
- At least 2 years of professional, academic, or research experience involving statistical models, data visualizations, or analytical reporting.
- Strong ability to interpret complex charts and statistical visualizations accurately.
- Advanced understanding of axes, legends, units, scales, confidence intervals, and statistical annotations.
- Strong quantitative reasoning and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to clearly communicate analytical processes and quantitative reasoning in written and verbal English.
- Strong attention to detail and precision in statistical terminology.
- Ability to design clear, objective, and objectively answerable analytical tasks.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a remote and asynchronous environment.

Preferred Qualifications





- Advanced proficiency in interpreting diverse statistical and data visualization formats.
- Experience with technical documentation, academic publication, or analytical reporting.
- Experience designing assessments, benchmark questions, or structured analytical tasks.
- Background in producing data-annotation tasks or benchmark materials for data science, statistics, or AI-related projects.
- Experience working with statistical modeling and quantitative analysis.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and a second language relevant to your domain.
- Experience collaborating with technical, research, or AI-focused teams.

Compensation

- Rate: $25–$50 per hour
- Engagement: Contract
- Work Arrangement: Fully remote

Eligibility

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant professional experience in a quantitative field.
- At least 2 years of relevant professional, academic, or research experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in statistical visualization, quantitative reasoning, and analytical interpretation.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
