Position Summary The Dispatch Trainee will support the Operations and Dispatch team in coordinating drivers, monitoring shipments, updating customers, and ensuring smooth day-to-day transportation operations. The successful candidate must be technologically savvy, highly organized, and eager to learn transportation management systems and dispatch processes.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist dispatchers with planning and scheduling daily freight movements.
- Monitor driver locations and shipment status using tracking systems.
- Communicate with drivers regarding pickup, delivery, and route updates.
- Coordinate with customers to provide shipment updates and resolve service inquiries.
- Maintain accurate records of loads, deliveries, and operational activities.
- Update dispatch software, transportation management systems (TMS), and internal databases.
- Prepare and maintain reports using Microsoft Excel.
- Assist in handling delivery exceptions, delays, and operational issues.
- Support compliance with company policies, transportation regulations, and safety procedures.
- Work closely with Operations, Customer Service, and Safety departments.
- Perform general administrative and logistics support duties as assigned.

Qualifications & RequirementsMandatory
- Minimum 6 months of experience in Logistics, Transportation, Dispatch, Customer Service Representative (CSR), or a related role.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel including spreadsheets, data entry, sorting, filtering, and basic reporting.




- Tech-savvy with the ability to learn transportation and dispatch software quickly.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or certificate in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transportation, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience working with transportation management or fleet management software.
- Knowledge of trucking operations and freight dispatch procedures.
- Understanding of Hours of Service regulations is considered an asset.

Schedule
- 8-hour shifts
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability as required
- Overtime opportunities available

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
