JOB SUMMARY The driver will act as an integral member of the 1st Class Childcare team to assist in the overall management of transporting children safely to and from a 1st Class Childcare program/centre in accordance with Alberta's Child Care Licensing Regulations and 1st Class Childcare's driver policy, procedures, and safety manual. This position will report to the Transportation Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Conduct daily checklist/inspection every morning.

- Maintain up-to-date records of bus maintenance.

- Maintain supplies on bus.

- Check fuel daily and refuel as required.

- Confirm child head count at every drop-off and pick-up.

- Ensure all children are in age-appropriate child safety restraints at all times before driving.

- Always maintain constant supervision of the children on the bus.

- Follow safe bus loading and unloading procedures.

- Conduct a daily walk-through on the bus after every drop-off.

- Know and abide by all policies and procedures, including evacuation and accident procedures.

- Daily housekeeping duties as required to keep the bus clean, including sweeping/vacuuming floor and seats, and cleaning/sanitizing high-touch areas.





QUALIFICATIONS

- Computer proficiency and an ability to be trained on using corporate 3rd-party software.

- Class 4 Commercial Driver's License with a clear driver's abstract to drive up to 24-passenger buses (required for employment).

- Ability to perform employment tests such as a road test, ride-along, and any other special training when required.

- Criminal Record Check & Vulnerable Sector Search.

- CPR/First Aid certification.

- ECE Certification of any level would be an asset.

- Fast-paced environment.

- Able to lift up to 50 pounds.

- Able to walk, bend, stand, squat, or crouch to a child's level.

- Able to physically respond quickly in an emergency.
