Alberta Health & Safety Training Institute (AHASTI) has been a trusted leader in health and safety education for over 30
years. We are looking for an organized, detail-oriented individual to join our team as EMS Administrative Support and help keep our EMS programs running smoothly behind the scenes.
Working directly with the EMS Coordinator, this position supports students, instructors, course administration, program systems, and EMS materials. This is an administrative role for someone who enjoys organization, accuracy, systems, and keeping multiple moving pieces on track.
What You’ll Do
- Support the administration of EMR, MFR, ITLS, ACLS, PALS, and other assigned EMS programs.
- Answer phones and respond to email inquiries professionally.
- Register students and maintain accurate records across multiple software and agency systems.
- Prepare course rosters, student files, paperwork, agency submissions, and certification records.
- Create and maintain Google Classrooms and other approved learning-platform course shells.
- Coordinate student communications, registration packages, reminders, and routine follow-up.
- Schedule approved courses and assist with routine instructor scheduling and backfill.
- Coordinate EMR course materials, including ordering, inventory tracking, and organizing required books and
materials for student orientation; coordinate pickup or occasional shipping when required.
- Track EMS training inventory, equipment packs, forms, exams, cards, manuals, and other program supplies.
- Monitor course readiness and identify items requiring follow-up or Coordinator approval.
- Maintain confidentiality while handling student and employee information.
- Participate as a member of company committees as assigned.
- Participate in the weekend on-call rotation to provide instructor and operational support by phone or text, with
occasional attendance at an AHASTI location when required.
What We’re Looking For
- Excellent organization, attention to detail, and administrative follow-through.
- Comfort learning and working in multiple computer programs, portals, spreadsheets, shared drives, and learning
platforms.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy.
- Dependability, professionalism, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently after training.
- A customer-service mindset and an interest in supporting students and instructors.
- Previous administrative experience is preferred.
- Experience in healthcare, emergency services, education, or training administration is an asset but is not required.
- Ability to travel to other AHASTI locations, including Red Deer, as operationally required.
Schedule and Location
- Permanent Part-Time: 32 hours per week on a regular Monday-Friday schedule.
- Additional approved hours, up to 40 hours per week, may be available based on operational requirements.
- Onboarding and training will take place at designated AHASTI locations, as assigned by management.
- Following training, your primary work location will be the AHASTI facility where EMS programs are based.
- Travel to other AHASTI locations, including Red Deer, is required as operationally needed.
- Weekend on-call rotation is typically approximately one weekend every four to six weeks; frequency varies with the
number of employees participating. Time actually worked is recorded and compensated in accordance with AHASTI policy and applicable Alberta employment standards.

Position Details
- Permanent Part-Time
