Our client, a well‑established and highly regarded Ottawa law firm, is seeking an experienced Employment Associate Lawyer to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated lawyer who is passionate about employment and labour law and looking to work in a collaborative, entrepreneurial, and client‑focused environment.
The successful candidate will work alongside an experienced legal team advising employers and employees on a broad range of workplace matters, litigation, and advisory work across multiple industries.
Key Responsibilities
Advise clients on employment and workplace matters including:
Employment standards
Human rights
Occupational health & safety
Wrongful dismissal
Workplace investigations and policies
Draft and review
Employment agreements
Workplace policies
Termination packages
Restrictive covenant agreements
Represent clients before
Courts and tribunals
Labour boards
Human rights tribunals
Arbitration proceedings
Collaborate with litigation and corporate law teams on employment‑related matters
Manage files independently while maintaining strong client relationships
Contribute to business development initiatives and ongoing client growth
Qualifications
5–7 years of post‑call experience in Employment Law
Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
Experience gained in private practice or relevant in‑house counsel environment
Strong understanding of Ontario employment legislation and workplace law
Experience handling employment litigation and advisory matters
Excellent drafting, advocacy, and negotiation skills
Ability to manage multiple files in a fast‑paced environment
Strong interpersonal and client service skills
Existing client base or business development experience considered an asset
