Quick Stats
- Compensation: $60,000–$70,000 annually, depending on experience
- Vacation: Three weeks paid vacation, plus the option of one additional week unpaid
- Schedule: Full-time, year-round; generally 10am–6pm, with Tuesdays and Wednesdays off
- Leadership: Member of Sea Cider’s leadership team, reporting to the General Manager
- Team: Directly manages approximately 2–10 part-time event service staff, depending on the season
- Budget: Accountable for the Department’s budget of several hundred thousand dollars
- Front-line event service: Up to 30% of your time, varying by season
The Opportunity Our Events Manager makes sure great events happen exceptionally well at Sea Cider.
You’ll lead Sea Cider’s Events Department, overseeing everything from venue coordination and client care to budgeting, staff recruitment, scheduling, training and supervision. You’ll work closely with our Event Sales Specialist, taking over the duty of care for clients once their events are booked and ensuring that the service team have the details to execute events successfully.
You’ll also play an important role in growing our events business: identifying opportunities, attracting new events, improving our offerings and finding ways to increase revenue and profitability.
This is a hands-on leadership role, and you’ll spend up to 30% of your time providing front-line event service, working alongside your team and modelling service excellence.

About Us Sea Cider is a certified organic orchard near Victoria, BC that crafts award-winning cider from heirloom apples. About You
You have a strong track record delivering events for 20 to 2,000 people, and you understand the client care, logistics, communications, coordination and attention to detail required to ensure complex events run smoothly.
Just as importantly, you’re an experienced people leader who knows how to create a positive team culture and is looking for senior management level accountability.
In addition, you have:
- Education: Serving It Right certification, and a post secondary degree or diploma in management, hospitality, event planning or related field.
- Management experience: At least five years of experience as a manager with responsibility for people, budgets, schedules and projects.
- Industry experience: At least five years of experience planning and executing events, including several years managing weddings and other complex events.
- People leadership: At least five years of experience recruiting, training, scheduling, supervising and reviewing the performance of direct reports. You have a gift for creating a positive, engaged team and keeping everyone focused on service excellence.
- Communication & problem solving: You’re an excellent written and verbal communicator with strong diplomacy and problem-solving skills. You know how to resolve client concerns successfully—and, even better, how to anticipate issues and prevent complaints before they happen.
- Financial management:
You have experience managing an HR budget and being accountable for the financial performance of events
- Sales & business development: You have experience implementing successful strategies to grow event revenue and improve profitability
- Technology & equipment: You’re highly proficient with common industry software and eager to learn new programs, improve systems and use technology to strengthen both financial and service outcomes.
- Personal approach: You bring professionalism, personal accountability and a strong commitment to achieving targets. You’re curious, a great listener and a collaborative colleague who welcomes feedback, and someone who embraces all aspects of DEI. You’re also willing to roll up your sleeves and work shoulder-to-shoulder with your team when the job requires it. And, of course, you’re interested in learning about cider!
- Work week available: You are able to work full time hours year round and occasional evenings if needed and per Sea Cider’s lieu time policy
- Physical requirements: You are able to lift up to 25 kg several times daily—for example, cases of cider, stacks of chairs and glass racks. You are also comfortable working on your feet, walking and standing for extended periods, both indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions
- A strong Health & Safety mindset, including a commitment to Sea Cider’s Communicable Disease Plan and all food-safety protocols
