Position Summary The H2S Safety Supervisor provides specialized gas detection, respiratory protection, breathing air, and H2S safety support at industrial and oil and gas worksites throughout Western Canada. The position supports drilling, completions, servicing, shutdowns, turnarounds, maintenance activities, and other operations where workers may be exposed to hydrogen sulphide (H2S) or other hazardous atmospheres.

The H2S Safety Supervisor is responsible for the setup, operation, inspection, and maintenance of gas detection and breathing air equipment and for monitoring work activities and atmospheric conditions to support the safety of personnel working in or around potentially hazardous environments.

H2S Safety Supervisors may work independently or as part of a larger safety or emergency response team and must maintain a constant state of readiness to respond to changing atmospheric conditions, alarms, equipment issues, or emergency situations.

This is a safety-sensitive position requiring sound judgment, situational awareness, physical capability, and the ability to respond appropriately to changing conditions and emergency situations.

Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for:

- Safely operating company vehicles to and from assigned worksites and while on client sites in accordance with applicable legislation, company policies, and client requirements.
- Travelling to remote and industrial worksites, which may require extended periods of driving in varying road, weather, and environmental conditions.
- Setting up, operating, inspecting, testing, and maintaining portable and fixed gas detection equipment as required for assigned operations.
- Setting up, operating, inspecting, and maintaining supplied breathing air systems and associated respiratory protection equipment.
- Conducting required pre-use, operational, and scheduled equipment checks to confirm equipment is functioning correctly and ready for use.
- Monitoring atmospheric conditions for H2S and other applicable hazardous gases and communicating readings, alarms, changing conditions, and potential hazards to affected personnel.
- Monitoring and supporting work activities where H2S or other atmospheric hazards may be present.
- Maintaining awareness of worksite conditions, wind direction, muster locations, escape routes, and other relevant emergency response considerations.
- Assisting with the establishment and maintenance of safe work zones, monitoring locations, breathing air stations, and other H2S safety controls as required by the client or site-specific safety plan.
- Ensuring workers using supplied breathing air or respiratory protection equipment understand applicable equipment requirements and site procedures.
- Monitoring breathing air systems during operations and responding appropriately to equipment alarms, malfunctions, loss of air supply, or other abnormal conditions.
- Participating in pre-job safety meetings, toolbox meetings, hazard assessments, man-down drills, emergency response drills, and Emergency Response Plan (ERP) activities.
- Maintaining readiness to respond to gas alarms, H2S releases, worker emergencies, evacuations, or other site emergencies within the responsibilities and training of the position.
- Immediately communicating unsafe conditions, equipment deficiencies, gas alarms,



or significant changes in atmospheric conditions to the appropriate client representative and affected personnel.
- Supporting evacuation, muster, accountability, and emergency response activities when required.
- Inspecting, cleaning, maintaining, and preparing assigned H2S safety equipment, breathing air equipment, gas detection equipment, and company vehicles for continued operational readiness.
- Completing daily equipment inspections, gas monitoring records, breathing air logs, hazard assessments, field tickets, incident documentation, and other required records accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintaining accurate inventory and reporting damaged, missing, expired, or malfunctioning equipment and supplies.
- Following applicable legislation, industry standards, manufacturer instructions, company policies and procedures, client requirements, and site-specific safety programs.
- Maintaining a professional working relationship with client representatives, contractors, workers, emergency responders, and other site personnel.
- Promoting a proactive safety culture by identifying hazards, communicating concerns, and supporting protected work practices.
- Performing other duties related to the position as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must possess

- Current H2S Alive certification.
- Current First Aid certification.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence with an acceptable driving record.
- The ability to obtain and maintain all client-specific site access and orientation requirements.

- Air Brake Endorsement.
- Confined Space Entry/Monitor training.
- Confined Space Rescue training.
- Rope Rescue training.
- Fall Protection training.
- Previous oilfield, industrial, shutdown, turnaround, gas detection, breathing air, or safety experience.
- Additional emergency response or industrial safety training.

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidates must

- Be at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Demonstrate strong verbal and written English communication skills sufficient to understand safety instructions, communicate hazards and emergency information, and complete required documentation.
- Hold a valid Class 5 driver's licence with an acceptable driving record.
- Be willing and able to travel and work at client sites throughout Saskatchewan and Western Canada as required.
- Successfully complete a Criminal Record Check where required.
- Successfully complete pre-employment and/or site-specific Drug and Alcohol Testing where required.
- Successfully complete required client orientations, competency assessments, and site-access requirements.
- Be available to work days, nights, weekends, statutory holidays, extended shifts, overtime, and variable schedules based on operational and client requirements.
- Have schedule flexibility to accommodate project changes, emergency requirements, and short-notice assignments where necessary.

Work Environment This position involves working primarily in oil and gas and industrial environments, including drilling and service locations, shutdowns, turnarounds, facilities, construction sites, and other client worksites throughout Saskatchewan and Western Canada.

Work is frequently performed outdoors and may involve exposure to extreme heat or cold, adverse weather, uneven or muddy terrain, noise, dust, industrial equipment, vehicle traffic, hazardous substances, and potentially hazardous atmospheres. Employees may work around H2S and other atmospheric hazards while protected by established engineering controls, respiratory protection systems, safe work procedures, and other site-specific controls.

The position may require prolonged standing and walking, climbing stairs or access points, bending, kneeling, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling equipment. H2S Safety Supervisors are regularly required to handle gas detection equipment, breathing air equipment, hoses, cylinders, respiratory protection equipment, and other industrial safety equipment.

The position may also involve extended periods working independently and maintaining continuous awareness of worksite and atmospheric conditions.

As a designated safety-sensitive position, employees must maintain the physical and cognitive ability to safely perform the essential duties of the role, exercise sound judgment, recognize and respond to hazards, and remain alert throughout the duration of each shift.
