About the Position

We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and dedicated Health Care Aide to provide in-home support to a client living with dementia in Beddington, Calgary.

Our client lives at home with her husband and adult son. She is very mobile but requires constant supervision and assistance with personal care and feeding.

The successful candidate will be comfortable providing hands-on personal care, assisting with daily living activities, maintaining a clean and safe home environment, and offering companionship and reassurance.

This is a temporary full-time contract assignment from October 9 to December 9. The successful candidate may be considered for future opportunities based on exceptional work performance.

Schedule

- Full-time, Monday to Friday, with some flexibility
- Saturday availability is mandatory
- Saturday shift: approximately 7–8 hours
- Flexibility may be required based on the client's needs

What You’ll Do

- Assist the client with grooming, dressing, personal care, and feeding
- Provide supervision and support throughout the shift




- Assist with meal preparation and follow direction from family members regarding the client's care and preferences
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the client's living areas
- Complete laundry and tidy up after meals
- Provide companionship and meaningful interaction
- Observe and promptly report changes in the client's health, behaviour, or overall well-being to the director and/or family
- Provide appropriate, compassionate support for a person living with dementia
- Help maintain a safe, respectful, and comfortable home environment

What You Bring

Required:

- Health Care Aide (HCA) certification or recognized equivalency
- Current registration with the Alberta HCA Directory
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
- Reliable transportation and the ability to arrive on time for scheduled shifts
- Strong attention to detail
- Prompt, respectful, and effective communication
- A compassionate and respectful approach to client care
- Fluent in English

Additional experience and skills we value:

- Previous experience providing care in a home-care setting
- Experience supporting individuals living with dementia, disabilities, or advanced/terminal illness




- Knowledge of dementia care practices and techniques
- Ability to prepare meals while following dietary restrictions and client preferences
- Strong communication skills when working with clients, families, and the director
- Genuine interest in helping others maintain their dignity and quality of life
- Ability to adapt to changing client needs and schedules
- Dependable, responsive, and professional communication

Compensation

- $26/hour
- Paid as an independent contractor
- temporary full-time contract assignment from October 9 to December 9, with potential for future assignments
