We are looking to hire a Heavy Equipment Technician with a minimum of 5 years experience.

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Heavy Equipment Technician to inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair a diverse fleet of heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, and automotive vehicles.

The ideal candidate is a versatile, safety-focused technician with strong mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diagnostic skills. This role suits someone who enjoys varied work, takes pride in quality repairs, and can manage both scheduled maintenance and unexpected breakdowns.

Key Responsibilities

- Inspect, diagnose, service, and repair heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, and automotive vehicles
- Perform preventive maintenance, scheduled services, and safety inspections
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, steering, suspension, and braking systems
- Complete welding, fabrication, and minor body or structural repairs when qualified
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform field or roadside repairs as required
- Conduct pre- and post-repair testing to confirm that equipment is safe and operating correctly
- Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, parts usage, and repair documentation
- Identify recurring problems and recommend repairs or maintenance improvements
- Keep tools, equipment, service vehicles, and work areas clean, organized, and safe
- Follow all company policies, manufacturer procedures, and applicable health and safety regulations
- Communicate clearly with supervisors, operators, drivers, and other team members
- Assist with parts identification, inventory control, and shop organization as needed

Qualifications

- Experience repairing and maintaining heavy equipment, commercial trucks, trailers, or automotive vehicles
- Recognized trade certification or licence is an asset,



such as Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician, Truck and Trailer Technician, Automotive Service Technician, or an equivalent regional qualification
- Strong understanding of diesel and gasoline engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, air brakes, and vehicle electronics
- Experience with computerized diagnostic tools and equipment
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, service manuals, and technical bulletins
- Welding and fabrication experience is an asset
- Valid driver’s licence with a clean or acceptable driving record
- Commercial driver’s licence and air-brake endorsement are assets
- Ability to provide a personal set of standard hand tools [if required]
- Ability to safely lift, carry, bend, climb, and work in a variety of indoor and outdoor conditions
- Willingness to work overtime, occasional weekends, or on-call shifts when required
