Job Title: Home Care Worker
Location: Ojibway Nation of Saugeen
Reporting to Band Manager (Temporary)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Schedule: 40 hours/week
Ojibway Nation of Saugeen (ONS) is seeking a compassionate and dependable Home Care
Worker to provide in-home support to Elders, adults with disabilities, and community members who require assistance with daily living. This position works closely with clients,
families, and health staff to help maintain comfort, safety, dignity, and independence while supporting culturally respectful care within the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care assistance to clients, including bathing, grooming, dressing,
toileting, and mobility support as required
- Assist clients with activities of daily living in a respectful, safe, and professional
manner
- Support meal preparation, light housekeeping, laundry, and other home support tasks
related to client care
- Monitor clients’ general wellbeing and promptly report changes in physical, emotional,
or mental condition to the appropriate supervisor or health qualified
- Provide companionship and emotional support to help reduce isolation and promote
overall wellness
- Follow client care plans, program policies, infection prevention practices, and health
and safety requirements at all times
- Maintain accurate daily notes, service records, and incident reports as required
- Work cooperatively with family members, caregivers,
nurses, and other community
service providers
- Respect client confidentiality, professional boundaries, and the dignity of each
individual receiving services
- Incorporate cultural respect, patience, and community values into all client
interactions and support services
Qualifications
- Personal Support Worker, Home Support Worker, Health Care Aide, or similar training
and experience is preferred
- Experience providing personal care, home support, or community-based care services
is an asset
- Knowledge of safe client handling, infection prevention, and basic home care practices
- Ability to work independently and responsibly in a small community environment
- Strong communication, patience, dependability, and relationship-building skills
- Knowledge of First Nation communities, cultures, traditions, and values is a strong
asset
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification is an asset
- Clear vulnerable sector check or ability to obtain one
Schedule & Compensation
- Full-time position based on 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility required for seasonal priorities, special events, and operational needs.
- Salary starting at $21.00 per hour.
- Benefits and pension eligibility may be provided in accordance with band policy, where
applicable.
