We are looking for an HVAC tech for our new construction and major renovations team. We mainly do residential home construction with some commercial projects as well.
What You'll Be Doing
- Sizing and selecting residential/commercial HVAC equipment — HRVs, MUAs, furnaces, and related components — based on building specs, code requirements, and load calculations
- Producing basic design layouts for ductwork, venting, and equipment placement to guide installation
- Installing furnaces, HRVs, MUAs, ductwork, and associated venting on new-build sites (residential and commercial)
- Reading and working from architectural/mechanical drawings and coordinating install sequencing with other trades on site
- Troubleshooting and adjusting systems during startup/commissioning
- Ensuring all work meets Alberta building code and manufacturer specifications
- Keeping accurate records of materials, equipment specs, and job progress
What We're Looking For
- Journeyman Sheet Metal Worker, or Refrigeration/HVAC ticket (or equivalent trade certification) — Alberta ticket preferred
- Solid working knowledge of load calculations and equipment sizing (CSA/NBC and Alberta code familiarity is a strong asset)
- Comfortable producing basic mechanical layouts/sketches — full engineering drawings not required,
but you need to be able to translate a design intent into something installable
- Experience on recent construction sites — comfortable working alongside multiple trades and around a shifting schedule
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites across the Calgary area (and occasionally beyond)
- Strong communication skills — you'll be a point of contact with GCs and site supervisors
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision once given a scope
Nice to Have
- Experience specifically with hydronic systems
- Familiarity with common HVAC design/load software (e.g., Wrightsoft, HRAI/CSA F280 methods, or manufacturer sizing tools)
- Gasfitter 2nd Class or higher
What We Offer
- Competitive wage based on experience and ticket level
- Steady work with a growing subcontractor across multiple active sites
- Company vehicle/fuel allowance
- Extended health benefits
- Opportunity to grow with the company as project volume increases
