MLT is seeking a person who would like to start or continue a career as an Implementation Technician in the telecommunications industry. The successful candidate must be self-motivated and demonstrate a strong technical aptitude and work ethic with a willingness to continually gain knowledge in the evolving telecommunications industry.

As an implementation technician, you will work on individually assigned tasks or client driven projects. The Implementation Technician position involves hands-on labor typically offsite at customer sites.

What a Typical Day Looks Like

As an Implementation Technician, your day is focused on hands-on work inside telecommunications headend facilities- the central hubs that power network services.

You’ll typically start by reviewing project designs and work tickets before beginning installation work. This includes installing and organizing equipment in racks, running and labeling fibre and coaxial cabling, and ensuring all work meets detailed design specifications and industry standards. You may assist with equipment installation, testing, activation, commissioning, and integration into existing telecommunications infrastructure.

You will also be expected to identify issues, troubleshoot problems, and work with project team members to ensure systems are operating correctly.

A strong attention to detail is essential, as you’ll be responsible for maintaining accurate documentation- updating records, completing work tickets, and capturing “as-built” information as projects progress.

Most work takes place indoors in a structured technical environment, but the role is still physically active, involving lifting equipment, working in equipment racks, working from ladders or elevated platforms where required, and moving throughout the facility.

Depending on project needs,



travel throughout the Atlantic region and potentially other provinces may be required. Occasional work outside regular business hours, including evenings, weekends, or overnight work, may also be required.

Overall, it’s a dynamic, team-oriented role that combines technical installation, problem-solving, and precision work to support critical telecommunications infrastructure.

Job Duties

- Provide support on various implementation projects.
- Install, route, dress, and label structured cabling in accordance with customer standards.
- Run, route, terminate, and label fibre and coaxial cabling in accordance with customer standards.
- Install, rack, cable, and label telecommunications equipment according to approved designs and customer standards.
- Organize equipment as per project requirements.
- Understand technical requirements as outlined in design packages.
- Read and interpret design packages, drawings, work orders, and technical specifications to complete assigned work.
- Work with project teams to install, activate, and integrate equipment according to approved design packages.
- Gather and record equipment, cable, connection, and installation details required for accurate as-built documentation.
- Ability to write, read and comprehend technical documents and apply the information.
- Create work tickets using customer application.
- Identify and troubleshoot cabling, equipment, and connectivity issues during implementation.
- Perform work within agreed timelines to ensure company objectives are met.
- Accept and integrate on the job feedback.
- Perform site surveys prior to design phase in order to gather complete and accurate documentation.
- Complete work on time, on scope and within budget to ensure company objectives are met.
- Learn to adapt to new standards in a changing customer environment.
- Update records when tasks or projects are completed.
- Attend meetings with MLT’s Telecom Services Business Unit.




- Ensure that communication with clients and peers is done in a professional manner.
- Adhere to all applicable Health and Safety regulations, as per company policy.

Requirements

- Grade 12 High School diploma
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Good level of physical fitness as lifting and moving equipment is required.
- Proficiency with basic Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Ability to read, understand, and apply technical documents, drawings, and design information
- Ability to travel within the Atlantic region and potentially other provinces
- Must be authorized to work in Canada.

Other Assets

- Experience with digital signal and electronic communication standards
- Experience with telecommunication topology standards

Working Conditions

- Manual labor, moving around throughout the day
- Ability to lift and carry equipment and materials as required
- Manual dexterity required to use a laptop and peripherals
- Work around telecommunications equipment, racks, cabling, and electrical systems
- Travel will be required within the Atlantic region, and possibly other provinces
- Work outside the 8am- 5pm workday when required
