Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated Junior Estimator / Project Coordinator to join our team. This is an entry-to-intermediate level role suited to someone early in their civil construction career who wants to build a foundation in estimating and project coordination. The successful candidate will support the estimating team in preparing quantity takeoffs and cost estimates, while also assisting project managers with day-to-day coordination on active jobs.

Responsibilities

- Assist in reviewing plans, specifications, and tender/contract documents
- Prepare quantity takeoffs (hard copy and digital) under guidance from senior estimators
- Help solicit and organize supplier and subcontractor quotations
- Attend site visits and pre-bid meetings as needed
- Support preparation of cost estimates (lump sum and unit rate)
- Assist in preparing and submitting tender packages and proposals




- Coordinate day-to-day administrative and logistical needs of active projects
- Track project documentation, submittals, RFIs, and change orders
- Liaise with site supervisors, subcontractors, and suppliers to support project schedules
- Assist project managers with cost tracking and reporting
- Provide general support during project handoff between estimating and operations

Requirements

- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field is an asset
- Basic understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and contracts
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong math and computer skills (proficiency with Microsoft Excel)
- Valuable written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Valid Driver's License
- 0-3 years of experience in civil construction estimating, project coordination, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

Assets

- Familiarity with HCSS HeavyBid
- Familiarity with Carlson Software
- Civil construction field experience
- Background in civil design, drafting, inspection, or survey
